“Until a few days ago, the thinking was the alarm would pass in some weeks, we just need to follow the rules. Now we need to explain to citizens that the situation is very, very serious, our hospitals are at the point of collapse,” the mayor of the Lombardy city of Bergamo, Giorgio Gori, told RAI state television.

Diabetic rant incoming:

Without further info using diabetes as a qualifying clause is not very useful. Diabetes is more of a symptom (can’t control blood sugar unassisted for reason X) than a disease. Reason X is the disease.

Is it the elevated blood sugar that causes the increased risk? If so - then those would good control would have risk more in line with their respective age groups.

Is it the auto-immune action that lead to beta cell failure to begin with that causes the increased risk? If so, than Type-1 would be more at risk than type 2 or those that got there via acute severe pancreatitis.

Is it the excess fat of many type-2’s that’s the issue? If so, than this is just an obesity thing and diabetes really isn’t involved

Lumping in 400lb fricktard lazy diabetics riding high with blood sugars consistently in the 200’s in with the rest of us doesn’t actually provide good info.

Rant over.

The changing details make it difficult to follow the storyline.

Couldn’t is a strong word. I’m just saying now it’s possible with the points I got back. And where have I complained? In all seriousness, next April is our 10th anniversary. We are going back then.

You said it was “retarded” that Italy is under quarantine and you’d actually love to go there right now.

So why don’t you go now? You have your points.

It would be stupid not to take that thread with a grain of salt. Guy doesn’t tweet for 7 years. Second hand info. Few if any official accounts with the same description. Anyone can put that thread together. And people have been known to do things like that. And it’s 2020. There would be a lot more of those stories out there.

Summary:
By March 1, 2020, thousands of people in the U.S. may have already been infected by the COVID-19 coronavirus, far more than the number that had been publicly reported, according to a new study. However, the findings also suggest that even moderately effective interventions to reduce transmission can have a significant impact on the scale of the epidemic, the authors say.

Because I have a six year old and a job and can’t just drop everything at a moments notice. Is that a good enough reason for you?
