What is the treatment? Maybe a dumb question
With it Viral and not Bacterial, so antibiotics don’t do shite...

Frank, you're a bit of a panic mechanic.

Treatment like IV, keeping fever down, breathing treatments.
Treatment isn’t always the same as a cure.

This thread used to be good with plenty of information, updates, pics, and videos posted. Now it is a bunch of keyboard warriors arguing with each other about bad or not bad this event is.

Yep, mainly trying to stop pneumonia complications.

The thread of the title will scare the frick out of you if you're not up to date in the news.

On Tuesday the head of the Communist Party in Wuhan said that since mid-January, Wuhan can only test "about 300" people a day for the virus. Number of new Wuhan cases reported today: 378.
I've read that testing for 2019nCoV takes multiple days, can return false negatives, and many hospitals (and even whole countries) lack the ability to run the test. Supposedly, cheaper and faster testing is in development. Regarding the report above, that might be more than one day of data being reported or they have increased capacity for testing.

It takes the CDC 4hrs to test for it
Unless that’s a lie

Outside of the daily number updates there ain't jack sh!tz coming out of China. Social media seemed to really start getting suppressed over the weekend.

I am surprised at how many of the confirmed cases are in critical condition. This virus must really attack the respiratory system.

I don't think they have the same setup in most of China that the CDC has
In the US, samples are collected and then shipped to CDC for testing, so getting results can still take multiple days.

Bunch of one-sided information and updates, sure.

It’s probably a RT-qPCR test, which hasn’t really changed in decades.
If it is claimed to take days to get results, that isn’t a statement of test duration, it’s a statement of backlog or a primer shortage.

Seems like the Netflix series Pandemic perfectly timed for this outbreak

Severe cases are going to likely have higher priority for testing at the lab.
Wouldn't read too much into it.

I'm not claiming any knowledge of what CDC is doing and I have no interest in reading their RT-PCR protocols document. I just know that CDC is the only one doing the test in the US.

At this time, diagnostic testing for 2019-nCoV can be conducted only at CDC.
Also, Japan has said that they are doing testing for some countries that aren't able to run the test.

The 2 students here at oxford university in ohio apparently had there samples sent to the CDC 2 days and still no word on if there positive. Local news said it takes at least 48 hours to get the results back. FWIW
From tonight's local Cincinnati news.
Miami University officials said Tuesday afternoon, they are still waiting on results from the CDC and hope to have them by Saturday.
Health officials said they took blood and respiratory samples from the students Tuesday morning and sent the samples to the Centers for Disease Control.
