I like my criminals with tangerine exit wounds. Would departments allow officers to carry around either?

I know what you're thinking:

Did he fire six shots or only five? Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question:

Do I feel lucky?

Well, do you, punk?

I want to go backpacking in Yellowstone but I need to shell out for a .44 mag to feel even halfway safe with all the Grizzlies up there.

You clearly have never shot a .50 Desert Eagle...and if you somehow did, you didn't do it without superior hearing protection.

The .50 is impractical for anything except elephant hunting.

Recoil, time back on target, capacity, and overpenetration all point away from these cartridges. Never mind the real possibility of serious hearing damage if either are fired indoors (or even outdoors). Though each of those advantages can be argued. The "perfect" cartridge is very situational and picking one for an unknown situation requires compromise. Where the .44 Mag and .50 AE might be perfect for a few situations overall they would be a poor choice for a service weapon for the average LEO.

10mm is what cops really should use. Glock 20s for all.

The more instances where I see the yes men that the profession of law enforcement is becoming, the less firepower I want them to have.

I have a .357 S&W Model 686 6” barrel. Shoots like a rifle. Bullet placement is always the key.

Wally Johnson killed countless elephants with a .375 H&H Magnum. He mastered the “behind the ear shot “. A small bullet to the brain will drop anything.

I love it when I'm watching a movie, and a character is having a shootout with one........and only firing it with one hand.

I used to own one. If you want to get noticed at the range, fire off one round and watch everybody stop shooting and immediately get that "WTF" look on their face.LINK

Revolvers are very nice. Things of beauty. But I’ll take 15 rounds of 10mm in my G20 when in bear country.

The .357 JHP is one of the best self defense rounds made.

The .44 and .50 has too much power for the police to carry.

Its almost worthless to have a 44 mag or 50 cal semi auto. Your follow up shots are going to be in the air.
