It was a summer job while attending LSU.
I worked offshore on a seismic boat. It was the most peaceful job that I have ever had.
We basically stayed offshore around two weeks at a time before we docked.

My buddy and I were once walking down the road when a bus full of Hawaiian Tropic bikini models pulled up. They were looking for a couple of guys to tour with them and put tanning lotion on them before their competitions.

That was the coolest job I didn't take.

honorable mention: TCBY on Highland just outside the LSU gates.

FUN times. Arnsparger, and later on Mike Archer used to come in all the time and even the "Band Director of Doom". I couldn't get her to smile despite the fact I served yogurt to her about 100x during my time there.

Trading yogurt for sicilys(?) pizza at the other end of the shopping center and the SUNDAY NIGHT LINES of sorority girls was legendary. Literally a line out the door from about 6pm until we closed and we couldn't even catch our breath.

Got a few dates out of it (its not easy being a White Chocolate Mousse sugar daddy ) and too many fun stories to mention.

Worked a couple of seasons during college for a helicopter service out of Vivian. One summer drove the fuel truck for the helicopter and chemical truck as we sprayed defoliant on utility company rights-of-way to keep trees off power lines. Traveled all over the southeast. Only worked during few hours around sunrise and sunset, goofed off the rest of the time. Room and board paid for when on the road, great way to save money. Then worked fire patrol in VA and drove the fuel truck while the helicopter used a water bucket to drop on fires. Saw lot of country and met interesting people and got a few helicopter and fixed wing rides.

Traveled all over the country building wind farms for a few years. Regardless of the politics or personal beliefs surrounding it, the job itself was badass. Just a bunch of dudes with huge cranes, explosives for blowing up trench line, and enough nicotine to kill an elephant.

Did two MEUs in a helo company. Listening to the Flight Nurses on this thread tells me they have never seen a helo crash. It’s all fun and games riding on the skids of a Huey or littlebird or fast roping out the hell hole of a 53 until you have to break out the body bags and tag your buddies after a helo crash. I don’t think I will ever be able to get on a fancy civilian helo. If I can’t see the transmission fluids/oils dripping on the deck I would make the seat a taco by the end of the flight.

That's exactly right. I have been in (2) CH 46s that had to make emergency stops. The crew chief told us "it's not the leaking hydraulic fluid you have to worry about." He said "when you don't see the leaking hydraulic fluid - that is when you need to worry."

you'd be wrong to assume that.

Like I said, I had great memories and some vv horrific memories as a flight nurse, the crash in 2010 was obviously the worst.

used to work in a country club kitchen.... most of the time was just short order shite super low stress, but kinda fun when we got slammed, just as fun when it was slow and we were fricking around back there. Also got to work on some catering orders there which was a cool experience. still miss it from time to time in a weird way

Bouncer at a music venue during college. I had the opportunity to meet an array of musicians, including several of my favorites. Most memorable event was eating fried chicken with Run DMC.
