One way to slow that down substantially is to bust the levees south of New Orleans completely and rebuild the entire lower portion of the state.

The first map is wrong. The Red River (between southern ND and MN) flows North into Canada.

The map in the second post correctly shows this.

That map is not even correct, there's only a small sliver of PA shown, when in fact at least 1/3 of W. PA drains into the Mississippi.

ETA: Edited to add W. Virgina, at least a third of that flows into the Ohio then Mississippi.

None of these maps show Canada..water and rivers don't just stop at international borders.

That’s a shite-load of fertilizer runoff. No wonder the oysters are dying.

has anybody been to MN see how tiny the MS River is?

Been there! Google maps has Streetview with some guys canoeing or kayaking from the source. Google Streetview of Source

The real beginning with the water seeping through a marsh from Lake Itasca so eventually someone cut a little stream so it would be more visible.

You can step across it.

Not the whole US but you can get around the eastern third - up the east coast, through the Great Lakes, done the rivers and canals to the gulf, and then around Florida.

I’m planning on it after retirement.
