I'm going to be honest, if I was dating someone who would flush their lifelong beliefs to marry me, I'd definitely have to think about that. If it means so little to them, after so long, what sort of constitution does that person have?

But you do you guy.

This isn't really a good comparison. This is like saying I used to buy Chevy Trucks, but now I buy GMC

Sorry, Jesus.

I know a guy who became Mormon for his wife.

He's like 5 foot 4 so likely didn't have many other suitors.

As others have said, where you get married does not necessarily indicate where you will attend church.

Wife (no pics) and I grew up in wildly divergent faiths (Whiskeypalian and Church of Christ) and compromised on Methodism when we started attending after our son was born.

Dont do it! My sister and I were raised as Baptists and she converted to Judaism before they married in order to be accepted by her ex's family. Really ticked off our parents. Biggest mistake she ever made. Run as fast as you can or tell your fiance' that you will not be converting and make the wedding at a neutral site other than a church since you both have different religious backgrounds.

“Red flags” of Judaism:
1. Yom Kippor is just the worst due to all the fasting and atonement
2. There’s no forgiveness of sins. Sinning makes you mortal. You can atone all you want, but at the end of the day, the only absolution is death. Hence the massive level of self-loathing among Jews.
3. There’s no afterlife. When you die, you die.
4. Keeping kosher sucks, especially with respect to shellfish, and no meat and dairy at the same time. Kiss cheeseburgers and crawfish goodbye.
5. The level of ridiculousness with which orthodox practitioners treat “no work on the Sabbath” is truly insane.
6. Converts are treated as second-class citizens. Judaism has no evangelical tradition.

If she’s reform, 1, 4, and 5 won’t matter at all. Reform Judaism is super chill.

Good things about Judaism:
1. Strong emphasis on family values and education.
2. Strong networking and nepotism within the temple.
3. Good humor and lots of excellent artists.
4. Lots of professionals and upper-middle-class folks.
5. They teach the value of money and public speaking at an early age.
6. Bar mitzvahs can be really fun.
7. Jewish weddings are pretty short.

My mom converted to southern Baptist from Catholicism because my dad wanted it.

But he wore the pants. From the sounds of it this isn’t the case for you

Studies show that when parents are different religions the children usually are not a follower of any religion.

Are you ok if your children don’t believe in anything.

I’m not.

Do you believe the Jewish faith? That’s kind of a big factor.

If OP converts it will automatically make him good at banking or accounting at least. Maybe even an ambulance chaser

All you have to do is dust off your conversion binder used here, thump the spider web, and off you go. Good luck

Practicing

I'm trying to wrap my head around a practicing Jew marrying a Southern Baptist

False.

Thank you. I was going to address those two points also but didn't have the energy.

The first one is a Christian misconception of Judaism.

The second one is partially true, partially false. I'm just spitballing here but at least half of religious Jews believe in the afterlife
