They say they’re still interviewing people but I’ve very skeptical. After I spoke with the hiring manager, the firm seemed to fall in love with me and were expediating thenprocess with interviews every day but now they’re acting slow. I am curious if there is shite going on behind the scenes. Whatever. There are things I can control, and there are things I can’t control, and I only need to worry myself on the things I can control. The difference between the great and good is the great can control more than what they can’t

It could be they are getting cold feet budget wise. Try to prod them with leverage of you going off the market.

I’d move on but keep hammering them with emails until they hire you or you get a job.

Quite honestly, if I were her, I wouldn't waste my time. Nearly 100% of our new associates were interns. Tell her to get her CPA as quickly as possible, that's her best bet. Once you have it grades aren't near as important, but when you have hundreds of people applying for tens of positions GPA is absolutely important when none of them have experience.

My CPA license number should be coming any day now. Trying to figure out all this reciprocity shite is for the birds.

Yeah, I know quite a few hiring managers within the industry who ate within my social circle. They give me advice and they always said 1. Don’t let up. There are people I don’t hire because we forget about them or they don’t show continued interest. 2. Job descriptions are written for the perfect candidate. We don’t expect that candidate to walk through the door by any means but we are hopeful.

I really do think there might be budget issues. The department I’m looking st lost like 35,000,000 last year in revenue and I reviewers their investment products they offer which are all losing money for the most part.

I think the best job for me is my last job which they are refusing to make a full time position. They will rehire me in a year if it’s posdiblf but that’s a worse case scenario for everyone, and is humiliating for
Me.

My perfect job is an early career strategic initiatives business analyst within the securities industry but at mynlsst firm, that was a management position and then me.

I’m sorry if I seem like I’m whining, I’m just all sorts of worried I’ll end up a bum.

So in class grade, what % is A+, A, A-, etc?

Lowest grade for a B-?

It’s frustrating as hell when searching for a job while you don’t have one.

My advice is don’t give up and don’t settle unless you absolutely have to.

I would personally avoid going to a place with major budget issues. You never know when they might fold.

Have you thought about looking in other areas?

I went to a real school and this was the grading scale:

4.0 A
3.7 A-
3.3 B+
3.0 B
2.7 B-
2.3 C+

and so on.

When did A+ in college become a thing? I know high school added points for AP/AG/Adv but college was always on a 4 point scale. Maybe it is something that lower tier schools due to juke their stats and make their students feel better?

I have several friends that interned at big 4 firms. They had 3.8 or above. Tell your friend to start applying to sell insurance

Can she attach supporting doc to her transcript and say yes to having over a 3.0?

Of course she can. She can even attach it and say she had a 4.0 if she wants. A Big Four firm will ignore her app either way.

Hurt engineering a lot too from my experience. I especially got screwed by it because they didn’t have it my first two years when it was easy, and then my last two years when I was grabbing my ankles I did have it and was getting -‘s.

I graduated with a 3.7 GPA probably would have been a 3.4 or so with ÷/- . Glad I got out in time (graduated Dec 14 vs Fall 15 start)

Well said. Many of these millenials think 6 figure jobs are just gonna fall in their lap. Very few have the communication skills and common sense to deal with people in an effective way. Put the phone down, quit taking selfies as if the world revolves around you and humble yourself. Be enthusiastic and be prepared to work your arse off to prove yourself before you show up expecting an office in the C-Suite

Saying anything else other than a 2.95 (a horrible GPA btw) is lying and a misrepresentation of your academic credentials.

El o El, some of my bosses graduated under a 3.0 and are some of the smartest men in the building.

edit: Btw, after that first job none of that GPA bs matters anymore

Has a 2.95 on the LSU plus/minus, but a 3.225 on regular scale that all other schools mostly use.
What? Most schools don’t use plus/minus scale? Frankly as a person who has attended 2 universities, I was surprised that LSU hadn’t been in a plus/minus scale when the posts about the change started.
