Friend is applying to big 4 accounting firms. Has a 2.95 on the LSU plus/minus, but a 3.225 on regular scale that all other schools mostly use. Can she attach supporting doc to her transcript and say yes to having over a 3.0? So far all have denied her because she doesn’t meet minimum of 3.0, yet she would have had LSU not changed standards.

Stop lying. She has below a 3.0.

I have an LSU degree and graduated with the plus/minus scale. If you didn't want to deal with that, should have gone to a school that doesn't have it, or transferred out of LSU when they adopted it.

Saying anything else other than a 2.95 (a horrible GPA btw) is lying and a misrepresentation of your academic credentials.

It's been a while, but in my day a 3.225 wouldn't have gotten you past the HR person.

There won’t be any better advice than this.

No idea. But I must say this ad on the TD mobile site I see below is red hot.

Your friend should’ve spent more time studying and less time on her knees.

Yea even with a 3.25 she would have to have some serious internship and some kind of specialty to get a look from the big ones.

The good news for her is just get a job with a good mid level firm and pass the cpa and the big jobs will be there

Or more times on her knees in the right places

Since when did LSU go to a “plus/minus” scale that is not a typical 0-4.0 scale? You get half points or some shite?

I wouldn’t hire her to pour coffee with that GPA from LSU

I think they did this 3 or so years ago. IMO it was a bad move that hurts their law students and business students the worst.

It looks a lot better when you can roll into a interview with a 4.0 vs 3.65 or something due to plus minus

She’s gonna have a lot of that in her future if she wants to be successful with that GPA

EY has given a lot of accounting friends internships at 3.1 and above. Told her same thing, just curious if my advice of having her put it on old scale would be valid.

Too bad so sad. Should have studied harder. Won’t get the job

Unless she’s got nice tits then she’s golden

She probably could if she can get a transcript that shows the actual grades.

Internships are slightly different vs getting hired full time. Seriously though she can make good money at a mid sized firm. Once she gets experience/ pass the cpa then she could go big four. Though by that time if she wants a family she is better off staying at a more state level firm vs national.

I didn’t even know they had it . My daughter had 4 As and a B last semester and somehow after I congratulated her on a 3.8 she said it was a 3.6. Yikes.

I realize this is aging me, but when I worked for a Big 8, the only guy I knew that worked for us that had below a 3.4 had gotten an internship because his grandparents owned a corporate client of the firm.

It'd be tough even at that GPA. That's the very low end for the big 4 as. Would have to kill the interview or show good work experience.

I work at a big 4 for reference.

Has she been applying through their sites or making contact through other avenues like linked?

Tell her to pepper the hr people and partners with a message through linked/ company email. You can get a lot done this way. It shows them communication skills and that you are a go getter. It also can open the door to an interview where gpa isn’t that important

Also she needs to message mangers. The more people she directly messages the better. Also using their linkened pages she should be able to find some of their interest outside of work and use that to try and make them like her to get the interview
