How much fault does the fricking idiot who gave the wrong address get in OTs opinion? Roofer deserves all the lawsuits coming 100%. But what should he try to recoup of that 100% from the stupid frick that doesn’t even know their own address.

I wonder how far off the address is? It would make the story even worse if a neighbor (the one actually needing a roof) stood and watched the idiots pull the roof off of the wrong house.

I’d get a judgement against him stat before he files bankruptcy.

Eta reading again don’t see anywhere where it says homeowner in need of roof gave wrong address so you’re probably right on how that transpired

She could file a claim on her homeowner’s insurance for vandalism

Who would be arrested?
The owner/operator? They didn't do it.
The illegals? Yeah they did it but they were probably just following orders.
The right play here is to lawyer up and get as much money as possible from the owner.
Turns out, the people ultimately responsible are WAY more motivated to make it right when they're offered an all expenses paid stay at the Greybar Hotel until things are made whole.
Also, isn't shite like this exactly why contractors have to be bonded? Shouldn't the bond be used to make the situation right for the injured party immediately and then let the contractor that fricked up and the insurance companies fight over it without the injured party caught in the middle?

You might want to look more closely as what a contractor’s general liability policy covers.

all depends on the state you are in
and you might want to not just assume they are legal citizens or have the required coverage as well

Wow
That explains so much

Possible she doesn’t have homeowners. That’s generally one of the first bills folks let lapse in harder times and if she doesn’t have a mortgage then that could very well be the case.

The one thing about contractors is that all the good ones are always busy.
Soooo, they’re busy after being hired by SOMEONE right?

This contractor at least appears to be insured. It is the insurance company saying that open roof damage to the home is not covered under the roofer's policy. I suspect that bit of the policy is in there to absolve the insurance company of liability for morons like this contractor clearly fricking up.
That said, I also agree that the contractor's insurer should cover the cost and then take it up with the policy holding contractor.

I used to work on a shitty insurance program for contractors and we denied a few instances like this

Any idea how those claims ultimately turned out?
