I have a black car and it was parked on the street in front of my house because some constructions guys are replacing my driveway. Well, as they were cutting out the old concrete, pieces of concrete were splattered on my front bumper, hood, windshield, and panel by the front driver side tire.

The owner came out and gave me his information and said all I probably need is to take it to a car wash and they will wash it and buffer it out and to send them the invoice. Well, after calling several places, they all told me I need much more than a wash and good buffering. They said I will probably need a good wash, buffering, sanding, and probably a new paint job and will be without my car for 2-4 days, which means I will need a rental car.

How should I go about the cost? Should I pay for it first and have the construction company reimburse me? Should I have the body shop send the construction company an estimate including the cost for a rental car first?

I wouldn't pay for anything first. I'd make it all come straight out their pocket.

Don't go cheap either. Go to a reputable paint shop and get the estimate done. Send it to the DLSD guy.

Go to the most expensive place you can find and get it fixed... Bill them the damages with a note telling them to kindly frick their mother in the booty... Once you are paid, kindly frick their mother in the booty and send pics back with a solid thumbs up

Take some pictures and send to DSLD? If they were replacing your driveway, then they know that trade was there. I'd do it asap. From everything I've heard about DSLD they should be more than happy to accommodate.

Get a couple of estimates from reputable local body shops. Call the guy who gave you his contact information and ask him how you should proceed. Document the date/time of any attempt to contact him and make notes each time. Take a ton of pics of the damage and the scene from different angles. If the guy gives you any crap send him a certified letter with a few pictures asking him to pay for the damages. If he refuses call the justice of the peace of the area where the damage occurred and ask them how to initiate a claim in small claims court.

So you knew they were there cutting up your driveway and you still parked your Kia close enough to get hit with concrete splatter? Just get a soft dry cloth and wipe it off in a circular motion with even but firm pressure.

Let me guess....

The driveway started cracking less than a year after installation at the culvert and they agreed to replace it for you at no cost to you?

Can't take anyone serious who uses the term "frick their mother in the booty."

I wouldn't go out of pocket without some written agreement or at least admission of fault by them. Perhaps even an email discussing it would suffice, eg, " as we discussed my car was damaged by your work and I'd like to confirm your suggestion on how we have it repaired"
