Ummm, for the last two years companies were in some form of being shut down while their employees were paid to stay home. People still are not going to work. Blame potato head. it was his policies as well as your governor and the medical industry. They created the new third world order we now live in.

It’s seriously just bad coffee a pastry and maybe some cereal. And this a damned Hampton Inn we are talking about here
That’s pretty much what a “continental breakfast” is, coffee, tea, juice, cereal, toast, or a croissant. They aren’t and we’re never intended to be a “full breakfast” with eggs, biscuits, bacon, ham, grits, and such.

Lots of hookers turn their tricks at Hampton Inn
Only time I’ve been there

Covid killed those off not sure if they really returned or not yet but now they just give you a muffin and a banana in a sack

That's not a continental breakfast though, notwithstanding how the hotels may have described it.

Hookers should be considered an amenity. Let them get called up like room service

I was in Midland a couple weeks ago. First morning they had full continental breakfast at the hotel. The second morning the kitchen staff didn't even show up, so nothing was available.

Hotels stopped calling it continental when they added the hot items.
I can only speak on the one Hampton Inn in Bumfrick, Alabama, but there was a noticeable downgrade in quality post-Covid. That is understandable, but still fun to complain about it on the internet. I rarely ate the “free” breakfast prior to Covid, and certainly didn’t at that Hampton post-Covid. Hampton’s coffee also sucks.

Yeah as someone who travels frequently for work I noticed the sharp decline in breakfast spreads since Covid. However, for a while there they were doing a grab bag to go option where I could load up on fresh fruit and granola bars which was clutch because I often times have to be out the door before breakfast would be served, plus those are healthier options than pancakes and cereal. I rarely eat breakfast as it is so the complimentary breakfast isn’t that big of deal so as long as they have hot coffee and a snack I can take with me I’m satisfied.

Eh. Maybe, and if so, just barely.

Then it isn't a continental breakfast.
What is a Continental Breakfast?
quote:
The first known use of the term “continental breakfast” was in 1896 in “The Sanitarian,” but the idea had been around for a few decades before then as American hotels made an effort to appeal to the changing tastes of both the emerging middle class and European travelers visiting America.
According to Merriam-Webster, a continental breakfast is defined as, “a light breakfast in a hotel, restaurant, etc., that usually includes baked goods, jam, fruit, and coffee.” What do these items have in common? They’re all shelf-stable items in portion sizes that are perfect for large groups of people.
quote:
The term “continental breakfast” originated in Britain in the mid-19th century. To the British, “the continent” refers to the countries of mainland Europe. A “continental breakfast” describes the type of breakfast you’d encounter in places like France and the Mediterranean. It’s a lighter, more delicate alternative to the full English breakfast — a heaping plate of eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, beans, and roasted mushrooms and tomatoes.
quote:
Continental breakfasts were also a stark contrast to American-style breakfasts, which boasted large helpings of eggs, breakfast meats, pancakes, potatoes, and toast. Europeans recoiled at the American-style breakfast, which they found too heavy and far too greasy. They preferred much more modest breakfast fare like fruit, bread, and pastries. So hotels aimed to please their more refined palates.

All hotel breakfasts now fall into 2 groups:
1. Bare minimum of pre-packaged sustenance and room temp coffee. MAYBE some powdered eggs and fruit. Free.
2. Sit-down, white tablecloth 3-course meal that costs $40.

I don't think I've had it since I was a kid with my parents, but to be fair I don't eat in the morning so that's not all that odd. We didn't stay at the types of places that had hot food, though. Cereal, fruit, and maybe a muffin were about the extent of it.
I tend to go for local hotels, and a lot of them charge you for breakfast/have a restaurant where breakfast is served. Ain't that some shite.. the nicer the hotel, the less you get for free. Should be the opposite.
