Just keep tunnel traffic flowing. That is Mobile’s sole purpose in life, to get people to/from Destin beaches.

This sounds just like when Ohio tried to claim that they were first in flight because the Wright Brothers were born there.
Lame arse pissing contest.

Mobile is a place where wholesome, good people and families can celebrate the festivities. I'm glad it's an option.
Yes. Very family oriented. It's where I've taken my children. But it is silly that congress is getting involved in bragging rights. Smh

Out of all things, that’s an incredibly important thing that needs to go to a hearing.

They invented it. We perfected it.
Only problem is they didn't. It was brought over by France in the late 1690s or early 1700s The 1st Mardi Gras in the US was somewhere in what is now Plaquemines Parish. Mobile, then tried to steal it and was the first to start it as an organized event. Then, New Orleans perfected it.

Mike Johnson should have it rewritten to honor Louisiana as birthplace with no mention of it being Mobile, Louisiana.

Mobile needs to stop with this BS. Mobile sucks and Mardi Gras there is never going to be as popular as Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

Tell me you've never done Uptown New Orleans Mardi Gras without telling me you've never done Uptown New Orleans Mardi Gras.

If liberalism was a city it would be Mobile.
Mobile has a republican mayor and the prior was, too.
it's not a tourist city, it's a blue collar port city. Lots of jobs. Lots of economic activity. There are rough areas but the metro area is much nicer and less jacked up than many areas.
The only good things about Mobile area are: (1) the bay; and (2) Fairhope.

Okay......granted, so now will it make your Mardi Gras less lame?

Their solution to that bottleneck will be finished long before a new Bridge at Baton Rouge ever gets completed.
Mobile does have 4 big projects slated for the next few years:
1) Downtown airport
2) Big causeway bridge project around the north side that will hook up to 65 out there somewhere
3) New coliseum
4) big hotel project downtown with added "convention" features -saw this one on a youtube vid, didn't care much about details but it is big.
Mobile is not great but it doesn't stand out as particularly shitty when compared to southern cities around its size - Baton Rouge, Jackson, Shreveport, Memphis (is larger), Birmingham(is larger), Montgomery.
I do stay on my side of the bay though. I will take up for them a little but I won't get carried away and go there very often unless I have to.

If I recall that is what was taught in 8th grade Louisiana history class. At the time Mobile was part of what would become the Louisiana purchase. It was those Iberville and Bienville fellas I think was sent by the King of France to protect the area known as the territory of of Louisiane.
It became prominent in New Orleans because New Orleans was a hub because of the mouth of the Mississippi River an all. This was before the Louisiana purchase happened. That information should be included. Do they even have Catholics in Mobile?
Im joking, I know there are Catholics in Mobile, but Alabama is mostly Baptiste right?
