If that’s what it takes to be able to go into the city without having to smell the strong stench of skunk everywhere, then so be it.

Quite the opposite, this eliminates seltzers and gummies so I'd venture to say you're fixing to smell a bit more of it...

You’re advocating taking it away.. you tell us why that’s good.. and try to balance the hypocrisy with alcohol as best you can..

You don't necessarily even need to use alcohol as the example, you can use something as basic as the carcinogen additives that the Gov allows companies to put into our food. Follow the money...the government is not looking out for our best interests, they're protecting their donors shareholder value at this point.

The hemp industry here in Kentucky employees a few thousand people due to it's growth with the loophole that allowed THC/CBD gummies and drinks in a state where all we have is medical marijuana. And in this economy, I'm sure it won't be easy for a lot of those folks to find jobs.

The hope is that legislation will correct the issue before the year is up but with the way this Congress operates, they're not exactly getting much done.

And McConnell is doing this solely for the bourbon lobbyists. They're pissed about their reduction in sales due to people not drinking as much anymore and were too stupid to get in on the CBD/THC craze themselves.

I know plenty of people who don’t smoke or ingest THC/CBD but swear by the effectiveness of CBD topicals for joint relief.

While I understand the argument of not wanting to smell weed everywhere, people are going to continue to do so, regardless of any CBD laws.

This is all being pushed and funded by the medicinal marijuana companies in states where THC is still illegal because they want to charge the disabled and veterans 10x what the local CBD shop does.

so I hate the use of THC, despise it, at least in public. and i think those that use it are trashy AF etc....but people should have the freedom to do what they want.

and this is a states rights issue imo, thats the bigger thing for me. I dont want the citizens of California deciding what is right for states in the south....so why would I support red states getting to tell cali what is right for their citizens?

not to mention its the government picking winners and losers again. that should not be the case in a free market society who values freedom. Gov shouldnt be choosing Alcohol as the winner over THC

now with all that being said...frick thc and the losers that use it. But i will fight for your rights to use it....but please stop making every city smell like shite, I beg you!!

Eating an edible and watching trailer park boys is way better than drinking 1k calories worth of beers and having a hangover

Police departments were losing revenue from overall number of DUIs decreasing from the popularity of edible THC products. Package that with declining alcohol sales and something had to be done.

I'm honestly questioning whether Kamala would have been better at this point, and that's deeply upsetting to me. It's been fun watching the they/them idiots and the melanin hucksters get their comeuppance, but the actual, practical effect Trump 2 has had on day-to-day life has been very negative for so many Americans.

It's really sad. I considered Trump probably the greatest American hero of this century until pretty recently.

Good or bad, let's track alcohol related deaths over the next couple of years.

I support freedom
That's sweet but using your logic all prisons should release their inmates, heroin should be legalized and made available for profit and all police departments & criminal courts should be abolished. Total freedom!!! YAY!!

So, I'll ask a different way, what was the motivation for congress to pass the restriction on THC referred to in the OP?

Was it a health concern? Does it cause behavior that is dangerous to users and/or others?

They were told to by lobbyists representing the alcohol industry.

It's truly nothing more or less than that.

People are drinking less alcohol as more and more attention has been focused on wellness and health, more GLP1's being prescribed, etc. Basically people are getting healthier. One of the ways this has happened, at least for me, is having access to THC infused beverages like Crescent 9 from Crescent Canna, Driftee from Urban South, CANN, Breez, etc.

It's a very mild effect - they're limited to 5mg/serving here in Louisiana - but it's enough to actually feel like you're somewhat imbibing with the drinking crowd. They've become insanely popular as well, taking up more and more shelf space at grocery store alcohol sections and at Total Wine, etc. By 2030 they're estimated to be valued around $30 billion. The Big Alcohol lobbies have noticed, and have set upon a mission to destroy this industry. They want a Miller Lite in your hand, not a harmless THC beverage. They want to sell more bourbon, vodka, etc. And the last thing they want is anybody else to have a seat at the table.

The thing that has me the angriest though is the fact it wasn't debated, it wasn't brought the floor as it's own bill, etc. It was slipped into a fricking FUNDING bill, very quietly and at the last second. That's why it feels so cheap and underhanded. McConnell and the bourbon lobby just slipped it right in there and by the time anyone noticed, Rand was the only one standing up for it.

It really is some bullshite. And it's going to lead people right back to alcohol. That's a win for the liquor lobby. But it's a big loss for me and people like me. Polling shows people are for it, and I think if it would have made it to debate, there would have been a lot more discussion. But no. Let's just slip it in under everyone's nose. Total fricking unamerican bullshite is what it is.

The legal regulation of weed products takes it outside of the inherent risks of black market street commerce. The black market commerce finances gangs and cartels and guns. Black market commerce introduces impurities and "supplements" such as fentanyl to the product in ways that are unregulated and unpredictable.

Legal weed takes the commerce out of the hands of cartels and provides a reasonable measure of safety to the product.
