Concerned Citizens met with show of force on Lake Maurepas at proposed carbon capture site

Sounds like their boats were inside a restricted zone and security ran them off. People are outraged but, if you were in any other restricted zone (airport, plant, gov't site, etc) wouldn't you expect the same?
Statement from Air Products:
The security guard—an off-duty Deputy Sheriff officer from a local parish—who was present for yesterday’s seismic demonstration was hired by Exoduas, Air Products’ contractor conducting the seismic survey. It is a standard practice for Exoduas to have security present when there are active charges in use. There will be security present throughout the seismic survey due to the presence of the charges being handled during this work, to ensure the 1,000-foot distance from the charge LDWR/Louisiana Administrative Code requirement is followed, and for the safety of the workers doing the survey and boaters on the lake.

Dozens of people were on Lake Maurepas to see how Air Products plans to inject carbon dioxide into the bed of the lake. What they saw before that could happen has them angry.
"We were invited out there. Elected officials. All concerned citizens that just want to know what is going on at Lake Maurepas," resident Kinion Bankston said.

Bankston is one of many concerned citizens who took his boat out Monday afternoon. They were supposed to get a look at how Air Products is testing to see where it can store carbon dioxide. The mood quickly changed from curiosity to concern.
"We didn't hear a boom, we didn't see anything at all. But we did get encountered by a boat with a guy in full tactical gear, with an AR telling us to get back to the safe zone, because I guess we were too close to where it was happening at," Bankston said.

So the rubberneckers were too close to a prohibited zone and they were asked to move? No shots fired? No “motherfrickers” hurled at them? And they’re bitching? What a bunch of counts.
Dial #7263 and cry about it.

Sounds like the security guard did his job.

Well, if an armed private security guard ran me off of public waters, I'd be upset as well. Is there a legitimate legal restriction for the area? If so, is private security allowed to force you off or do they have to call law enforcement like all private securities do?

Yes, explosive seismic charges are being detonated and they didn to want anyone to get hurt and sue.

Reading is hard. Explosives. You in the blast area. Understand why they were told to leave?

His safety is not their concern, per the SC. He may have wanted to go out with a bang.

This happens in lots of places, of course it’s legitimate. Try to go snapper fishing in the LOOP or try to climb on a TWIC platform or drill ship. I don’t understand why everybody is upset about protecting “our waters” you need radar to not hit a wellhead in basically every waterway in the state. It’s not like they are building a refinery in Yosemite here. Seismic work, drilling, pipelines, cavern storage, all this already happens here, like a lot.

So, corporations can hire an armed guard with an AR?
Where's the gun grabbers on this one?

I have always found it quite odd that police can moonlight as security.

Next time they do one of these go park you boat right over the top of one. Hopefully it's a shallow depth when they detonate.

Is Lake Maurepas a restricted area? LDWF Lake Maurepas
I see where airboats would need a permit for some access, but nothing else.
The locals had no say in this project, so instead of sitting around they are actively asking questions and trying to see whats going on.

Fair enough. But if they wandered into a blast zone or were otherwise at risk by whatever the contractor was doing, don’t you think it’s a good idea they were asked to move to a safer area? Or would you prefer they get hurt so they can bitch about that too?

I think more of less the issue here is they were invited out there by the contractor and were not expecting to see that.
