How fricking entitled are you to post on an Internet forum instead of writing a letter?

That’s seriously all your entitled, lazy arse can think of as a response?

Besides, I don’t know the respective addresses of the entirety of the OT. So writing a letter would be pointless.

Exactly. I firmly believe that to make the C Suite you have to be willing to trade your life for your job. It’s got to be something that you care about more than anything else. That’s cool if that’s your thing but I view work as a means to an end, not some higher virtuous calling.

To clarify, I like them fine. I appreciate the pay check. I just don’t get my jollies off of hitting arbitrary goal x. I laugh at the boot lickers on LinkedIn getting all excited about such things.

We've been back in the office since September 2020 just in time for the October 2020 12% company wide layoff.

Would be better if I wasn't looking at a shiatty commute and forced office interactions in my future. Everyone gather in the break room to celebrate Kathy's birthday!

This. The main reasons companies want you in the office is because (1) they don't trust you (2) the managers want to feel empowered and (3) people want to socialize.

I've been working from home full time for over a decade and I get far more done than when I was in the office. People no longer come up to me interrupting my work with garbage that's not relevant to the job.

Some employees do function better in an office setting due to household distractions.

True, but there are many, many office distractions. You don't realize it until you work in a quiet office in your own home.

I'm personally tired of sitting at home by myself. It sucks. I've started going to our corporate HQ which is 10 mins from my house. We used to have 200+ that worked there. Now it's just me. I've seriously considered quitting and finding a job where I can have coworkers again.

The last two years have been a huge swing for the introvert/extroverts. Extroverts used to have the advantage with all the office socializing and such. Now they’re going insane and us introverts are loving the quiet and aren’t giving it up willingly.

Your arse has been sitting at home for two fricking years and you’re just now being made to go back to work? And you’re bitching that you have to live a normal life again?

I recommend you quit your job and go sit in a corner of your house waiting to eventually die. It’s obvious you’re no good to yourself or anyone else. If functioning in society as a normal adult is just too much for you.

For OP, I like the hybrid option. A few therapists in my cohort have gone to full telehealth and I don't know how they do it. I had to do a few days of nothing but telehealth and I hated it. Just too much constant screen time, clients fighting with having a decent internet connection, etc.

I do like the days where I can do telehealth and just have a handful of the clients I've seen awhile but are just checking in and nothing too intensive.

As someone else mentioned, try cultivating relationships outside of work, with friends or a significant other.. also, i feel like there’s a huge difference in going to an office whenever you feel bored or lonely, on a whim- and HAVING to go into an office every day, or even three days a week.. hell, even i - who have worked from home for 15 yrs - might go into an office every once in a while to BS with coworkers if it was on my schedule, and if it wasnt required .

What is this ‘normal’ you speak of ? Some of us have been remote for years, or have been working in the field , visiting customers, traveling to different parts of our territories by car or by plane, eating on an expense account and each day is a little different which keeps things interesting… if you ask me, going to the same place every day, sitting in the same cubicle, under the same fluorescent lighting , surrounded by the same coworkers and water cooler BS and office politics seems like the ninth circle of hell… if that’s considered ‘normal’, then I’ll gladly be known as extremely ABNORMAL .

I'm the complete opposite.

I enjoyed working from home the first few months, as I had never done it before. But after a while, I grew to hate it. I much prefer being around people.

I have 3 kids and 2 have after school activities. If I'm in office and have to commute I work my 8 hours, leave several things undone because I have to get kids. When I wfh I wake up at the same time. Start working an hour or more earlier and work an hour or more later. Don't take a lunch break at home.

I'm much more efficient at home than in an office setting.
