I had the opportunity to work in Paris for 6 weeks several years ago. I ate anything I wanted and drank almost a bottle of wine a night. Lost 5 lbs
How did you get to work there as a doctor? I’ve thought about doing the same in the future and am curious how to do so.

So you just wanted to point out the price of 3 chicken breasts without how much it was a pound?

Our problem is that we will never have cities set up like the Europeans do where everything is centralized and public transportation is actually worth the investment.
A lot of it is demographic as well, at least in terms of correlation. It may be chicken/egg scenario, as perhaps better laid out cities would help, but certain states that are healthy have somewhat similar demographics.
I can only speak anecdotally, but when I started my weight loss process I was in an area where I could ride my bike daily on a path created specifically for that. It ran by a river, there were people out being active, a lot of greenery, and it generally made you feel good. We moved out to the suburbs and my bike commuting dropped almost immediately and I gained 10 pounds back. If I needed to go 2 miles my options were drive or bike/walk on a major highway. People in the suburbs were also a lot fatter. There were some fit people, but there were many more people that were definitely obese.
We've since moved back to Boise and the same greenbelt is .5 miles away from my house, so on days I don't lift I ride 10-15 miles, sometimes twice a day. I have dropped the weight I gained back and continue to drop, my alcohol consumption has dipped significantly, and I feel better.
Call it coincidence, mindset, demographic, what have you. But I do way better when I am close enough to places to ride my bike. And I'm not that special; I'd bet other people would feel better as well if biking to places, even in that Louisiana heat (I used to do that as well), was an option.

Actually didn't look at weight (and that's probably my fault for stating it that way). I think all their chicken was about the same price but I did not look to see how much per pound.

That's like saying I paid $1k for beef and not mentioning it was an entire cow.
In short, it was retarded

Not sure I'd go that far with it. We were talking 3 chicken breasts.

I think it's a multitude of things. I think we are one of the only countries that don't regulate advertising and don't ban food. There are foods in the US that are simply banned in others. Whether or not it's warranted is another matter. There is just a "wild west" of food in the US. We need to outlaw or regulate certain food portions. Showing the calories on menus was a great step forward but we need to do more. If the fatass wants more food, let them order a second meal. Business profits more and the person is less likely to spend that much.
I have conflicting thoughts on this because I believe in capitalism and freedom of choice but those choices also affect our medical care. US wouldn't also be so damn scared if it wasn't so fat AF during covid either. Taking my liberties away. So I guess I believe in limited government and this would be something I can get behind the government mandating or businesses coming together and lowering the portions.

dunno if you meant to, but it sure came off as you acting like his assertion that chicken breast is about 1.50 per serving was wrong because you bought 3 chicken breast for $14. your post had no data and it was left up to the reader to draw conclusions.
i personally took it as you were saying chicken breast was expensive as hell cause you paid 14 for 3. when the facts are it was prolly 3+ lbs of chicken for that 14.

Men with a beer gut or middle aged women who had 2-3 kids being a bit thick don’t bother me. It’s the huge obese fricks that waddle around and get out of breath from taking 20 steps. The ones with fat rolls just hanging out all over

It’s the damn food. Right before Covid i went on a two tour of Italy, eat and drank like a king, after two weeks lost 5 pounds and felt incredible. Noticed also rarely saw obese people that whole time

This is fat acceptance. The man with the beer gut and the woman with baby weight she never lost are probably teetering on the edge of the overweight/obese boundary. We've shifted the mindset to pretend that's normal as long as you don't have a gut down to your ankles

My mind goes to the idea that our food system loads everyone with high fructose corn syrup. But also is it laziness?
I think it's just normalized behavior mixed with ignorance.
Jim is 225 and sees John who is 250 and thinks he isn't so bad. John sees Tim at 300 and thinks he isn't that bad off.
Tim tries to lose weight by eating a salad covered in ranch, croutons, and bacon and can't understand why the pounds aren't shedding off. Tim thinks he is active because he hunts and fishes whenever the weather allows and works around the house, so he just must be a big guy. Also, he tried to eat healthy and it's just unrealistic. Nobody can actually do that.
This is all fictional and in my head, I'm well aware.
Well, hello there Tim. You were starting to say something about a problem you have....please continue on.
