You believe that this company, who's wasted a ton of Broke's time trying to fix something as simple as changing an email address, won't take just as much time trying to fix all of this other stuff? Where do you come up with this stuff?
Broke has made 5 calls, and surely waited on hold at least 5 times. This lady can most likely take care of it with 1 call. And besides, who gives a frick anyway? It's a problem caused by either her or the company she's doing business with, some things take time. But it absolutely should NOT take the time of a 3rd party.

It is an easy fix, but one that Comcast should make, not OP.
This is irrelevant for the reasons that you stated. He doesn't care about changing other things on the person's account, but continues to bitch about his email being associated with it, even though he can simply change it himself. Changing the associated email address to some fake email would have no impact on the customer, since they obviously aren't using any features that would require the personal email address.

Your logic is broken. If they have so much trouble changing an email address, why would you assume that it will take them less time to fix all of these other things?

quote:It's not irrelevant. Broke's email address is associated with an account that isn't his. This is an obvious problem, and one that shouldn't be ignored. Who knows what that address will be used for in the future?

quote:Again, here you are suggesting that Broke should break the law in order to fix a problem that he did not create.

Personally, I don't give a shite how long it would take them to fix Lavona's shite. She created the situation and they didn't work hard enough to fix it.
I would just want my email address off of there and what happens after that matters nil.

Comcast asks me for the last 4 of my SSN and my address to make any changes. There is no way he could pretend to be this woman to have the email changed.

How do you, or anyone else know this? Once again, somebody please point out a reason why someone would intentionally use someone else's email address on a cable subscription? This isn't like stealing someone's identity. I don't see anything to gain from that.

Because they don't have one of their own. Who fricking knows or cares? Do people have to have good reasons behind doing what they do all the time? No, some people are just fricking stupid and do stupid things for stupid reasons.
ETA: You don't think in the two years she's had Comcast she hasn't thought it was a little suspicious that she never received an email from them on the primary email address she provided? No purchase confirmations or spam or anything? That alone makes "a mistake" more far fetched than it being intentional.

Those that say it's and easy fix for comcast have never dealt with comcast. You have to go claw hammer on those SOBs to get anything done or changed.
Granny smashes Comcast equipment with claw hammer
She charged into the office and laid a powerful hammer stroke upon the CSR's keyboard; two more shots razed the monitor. By the time the police had arrived, Shaw had also taken her hammer to a telephone.
Shaw was then handcuffed by police. After experiencing high blood pressure, a rescue team was called and she was transported away on a litter.
She said of Comcast, "What a bunch of sub-moronic imbeciles."

Happy now?

What if Lavona is some 80 year old lady who doesn't really use email for things like managing cable subscriptions? She may get paper statements from them too.

That wasn't the question you asked. You asked for a reason and were given a reason.

How did she get my email address then? Did some random rogue Comcast employee just decide to look me up for funsies? Do they "HAVE" to have an email addy to sign up for cable?

"guilty of not having her affairs in order"? What do you even mean by this? The OP has said that his address is obscure so this would have to be intentional if the customer gave them his email address.

Dude, I don't know. Maybe yall share the same last name and Comcast somehow had you in their system, and assigned your email address to their account by mistake. I'm just saying that if one is more likely than the other, it's Comcast who did this, and not the customer.

You skipped over the post where I gave a reason that she would do it and also a reasonable explanation as to why it would be intentional versus being a mistake.

But that is beside the point. The point now, IMO, is what exactly are YOU trying to gain in this thread? You have changed your argument from suggesting Broke break the law to make the problem go away, to harping on a comment I made offhandedly about it will probably take less time for her to fix it than Broke has spent, to now asking why Lavona deserves any of this. Why aren't you asking why Broke deserves to have his account associated with another account that isn't his, and why he has to resolve the issue in a particular way after having tried on several occasions a method that SHOULD have worked? Stop making Lavona out to be the victim here. She won't be on the hook for any purchases. Hell, she'll probably get a credit for her trouble. And it still boils down to her fault for not taking the time to make sure her accounts are in order.

Woops, I did skip it.
That seems more likely to you than Comcast screwing up?
? He said his address is obscure, so it's not likely that she made up some address that wasn't hers.
Like I said. There once was a time where people got all of this info through snail mail. This still happens today.
