We've lost several family members to colon cancer. That isn't what you want, trust me. Since you have a history of polyps, you don't want to tempt fate by taking advice from charlatans.

Never had one yet but I would say better safe than sorry.

Never heard about any negative effects but I guess that is good to know

That does not indicate the presence of polyps or remove them. It just tells you if you already have cancer. And if there’s a positive or indecisive test you get to have a colonoscopy too.

I pooped in the box about 5 years ago. Decided I needed the real thing & had a colonoscopy about a month ago. It wasn't so bad really. A little piece of mind. It was a day off work and a little pampering from the wife no pics.

I'm being cited article after article about how colonoscopies are not only not necessary, but are in fact more likely to cause harm than not.

What? Post these "articles"

From everything I’ve read colonoscopies are the best individual procedure we currently have to actually prevent deaths from cancer

brother you very likely are one of these people What are you questioning. You have a very real chance of being dead right now if colonoscopies didn’t exist

I know, I know... I just wanted to plug the poop-in-a-box, mainly because I have the sense of humor usually reserved to 12yr old boys.

Colon health is serious business, my apologies for acting a brat.

I do know farts are epic post-procedure. At least, that's what my wife told me.

Correct, as long as you're okay with the possibility of getting surprise arse cancer but not finding out until it's advanced.

There are worse things in life than a Doctor doing arse play on you while you are unconscious.

The best cure we have for cancer is a surgical blade catching a cancer early.

That should give you your answer

I'm not sure what you are describing is a medically certified Colonoscopy but rather sounds like a recreational colonoscopy.

the way my doctor explained it to me..... "yes, you can do the box route, but those tests are only designed to pick up polyps of certain size or larger. By actually going in you can see if there are ANY polyps and remove them. Box test might give you a negative when you have 2cm polyps and then you let those sit for another 5/10 years."

I had mine at 45 and had several small ones so I have to do it again in 3 years instead of 5. I'd rather get them out!

and yes the sleeping agent is amazing.
