In John Baron’s defense, he was getting paid an easy $1,000.

Ahem

when you're unemployed and broke,
Treat yourself to tasty Coke,
Please don't take their SNAP away,
Making them use cash to pay,
They rely on government,
To pay for bills and food and rent,
Save their EBT payola,
And always, Enjoy Coca-cola.

Was this using welfare, or was it going to apply to everyone?

I don’t think he is comparing the exact same scenarios.

When I was a kid my dad made pretty good money, but at 9 my mom and dad divorced and my mom worked at Wal-Mart. My mom was broke, so she applied for benefits. For about a year we received food stamps and gubment cheese, that was some good cheese (seriously).
My mom ended up getting a much higher paying job so no more food stamps and gubment cheese, but I still remember making gubment cheese sandwiches...tasty.

Until citizens united is repelled and we out law lobbying we are wasting our time.

That's the real change

I would argue SNAP shouldn’t even cover bottled water either.

Eh, water should be a staple of heathy living. Maybe don’t allow the “smart water” or other “designer” bs, but plain basic water should be allowed.

There are also many places with tap water issues.

Back when the cheese program was going on a local guy reopened an old cold storage warehouse to age the cheese. Railcars in and railcars out.

He ended up in prison for defrauding the government as his aging consisted of taking it out of one railcar and shipping it back out in another a week later.

Coke buys MAGA politicians —> “We never wanted to take Coke products off SNAP” —> MAGA stays winning

It's more profitable to sell the cocaine they make to a pharmaceutical company is St Louis Missouri and what the pharmaceutical company does not buy is supposed to be destroyed, but possibly some is sold to the see-eye-A. Who then sells it on the streets to help fund their off the record projects. Not a bad side business for a by product.

What did people drink before bottled water?

SNAP should only cover whole grain breads, cases of water, 1% or 2% milk, eggs, butter, rice, canned and fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, chicken thighs, and ground beef. Everything else should be out of pocket.

Then you get a brita pitcher.

Any sort of bottled water is incredibly more expensive than filtering water from the tap for yourself.

So no, SNAP should not cover bottled water IMO.

Some places, especially poorer communities (trailer parks), have some god awful water. While it’s technically “safe” to drink, it’s not the fault of the resident that the water is practically unpalatable. Plus, these places often have a fair amount of water main breaks, where being able to buy bottled water for a few days may be a necessity.
