I was raised on cloth diapers, I have a very vivid memory of my mother rinsing them out in the toilet bowl when I was older and had siblings.

I did however use disposable when I raised a child. There are some more biodegradable disposables now that aren’t such a landfill issue, although hardly anyone uses them because they are expensive

What changed my mind wasn't about money or the hassle,I just felt sorry for my son and how nasty and miserable it was for him.

To each their own though.

Paper diapers are a huge source of landfill material.

My aunt told me that cloth diapers encourage earlier potty training. Disposable diapers are so effective, the kid is rarely uncomfortable. But cloth diapers are not, so kids can feel wetness immediately and want to be rid of them faster.

I don't have kids, so I can't tell you if it is true.

Wut?

Would you like me to do a thread where other posters, who know me IRL, verify my life for you?

I told my wife go ahead. However I also told her no way were my clothes being washed in the same washing machine as shite diapers, so she would have to hand wash. Pampers FTW.

Once baby gets teeth, walks and eats real food, you get to see & smell real turds. That will effectively cancel any perceived benefit to cloth diapers presented in any post before this one.
Anyone who counters this either hasn’t peeled one off holding a load of sheetrock spackle, is crazy or is a liar.

Did she want to do "away" from home full cloth or a combo?

Was or is she also being weird about certain chemicals in diapers?

Cloth diapers aren't that bad. We did them for about 6 months. Granted it wasn't my prerogative and I rarely had to deal with them. Up until they start eating food it's basically the equivalent of washing out split pea soup. Not pleasant, but not like toddler poop. It doesn't really stink until they start consuming food. At that point it's pretty terrible and I couldn't imagine doing that with any regularity.

One thing to note is that modern washing machines aren't really designed for such things. Your 'utility washer' might be an older one and thus more suited for the task. You'll also want to make sure they're getting sanitized regularly as washing machines don't necessarily do that. Also you don't throw all the poop in the washer, you gotta rinse all that off first. Hope you have a utility sink you can dedicate to the task. A dunk in the toilet would work otherwise, but you'd have to clean that thing all the time.

Reusable diapers aren't terrible, they're just more work. I wouldn't have opted for it if I was doing most of the cleaning, but if your wife or whoever is gung-ho about it and going to be doing most of the work, go for it, assuming you've got all the stuff you need to actually do so. You'll absolutely want to buy some disposable diapers for if you're going out and about or otherwise are out of clean diapers.

Just my thoughts, though.

when is your baby due? It’s time to draw the line. If I decided I wanted to cloth diaper, my husband would 100% nip it in the bud.

Disposable more sanitary.

Tell her cloth diapers support big cotton and make her think the only whole option that will one up her woke friends is natural banana leaf diapers with coconut husk fiber stitching

Are there still cloth diaper cleaning services? Because no way I want to clean shitty cloth diapers and my kid's shitty diapers don't even bother me that much.

Sorry environment, the convenience of disposable diapers is far too great for me to go cloth.

Does your wife use reusable pads in lieu of tampons? If not, why not?
