We're honestly fricked. We can't keep up with the tricks AI can use to impose their will. Everything created by AI will contain signatures that will be next to impossible to locate and that gives the AI companies complete power over everything.

Not even sure if local LLMs will solve this. They have their own issues.

I thought some gangster was about to rat on some people or something.

Instead it’s just some nerd AI fear porn article. Gaaaayyyyyy.

How is AI outing its work product as AI an example of AI imposing its will on us?

Just based on the comments that I could see (dont have X), it appears the concern is the AI copyrighting anything it touches, even if to proofread.

That would require a change in copyright law. As it stands now, AI generated content isn’t protected by copyright, full stop. In hybrid works, only the human created parts can be protected. If anything, this would result in fewer works getting copyright protection, not more, and certainly not protection in favor of the AI companies.

This is my third time in this thread, I'll be back later when there's more comments to help me sort out what the hell this is about.

When Claude generates text, it’s going to do so in a way that the combination of characters in that text will be identifiable as generated by Claude if you run it through an algorithm that Anthropic is providing to certain entities for the purpose of determining whether a given text is AI generated.

It’s the anti-AI crowd panicking over something they don’t understand. It’s nothing earth shattering. You can still strip metadata and watermarks out of your documents after using AI.

This is different. It’s going to be directly encoded into the text itself. You can reword the text to get rid of that code, but most people aren’t going to do that.

Also, I don’t understand why people against AI would be bothered by this. To me, it’s primarily people who have outsourced everything they write to AI that should be quaking in their boots

This probably has some consequences in my organization but thankfully it won't impact me.

We have AI usage policies that state that we can't use AI in any client facing work. It's really meant more for internal scratch work. That said I don't think it will have much impact on our work since most of what we produce is numbers and metrics and not long form text.
