re: Class Reunions: A Chance to Catch Up or a Chance to Say ‘Look at Me’?

Our class didn't have a 10 year (or maybe I wasn't invited). Went the the 20 year and had a blast. Great catching up with folks as I had moved away. It was neat seeing people my age at different phases in life. Most had kids that were almost grown and we had a couple of grandparents in the group. At the time, we had a 6 and 2 year old. Our 30 year is coming up in July and I'm looking forward to catching up with them again.

Byrd is by far the best high school in North Louisiana. Maybe even the whole state, in terms of just being an all around solid school. Not just academics, because the neighborhood program weighs it down, but just at producing all-american solid kids.

I'd rather remember the hotties the way they were.

I’ve been out of high school for 38 years. I went to the 10 year reunion and haven’t been back. I don’t remember how much it cost but it was such a shite show I’ve never been to another one

Bump- I got a couple of messages from
Classmates asking if I was going to Happy Hour Friday night, so I went and had a great time. In fact, I wished I hadn’t made plans Saturday night because I was offered a ticket for the big celebration. Maybe because it was 100 years, so it was more than just a reunion, but I regretted not going. I won’t make that mistake again.

At my 20th I was shocked to learn how many of my classmates had died. I think we had lost 20 people out of a class that was around 200.

My buddies I still hang with and I never go. They come over on weekends when they can and we still go cruising in our 60s and 70s muscle cars but as far as class reunions? We don’t do them.

My 20 year was all about catching up, learning where we all lived, what we do, and our families.

I havent ever been to one and i had a blast in HS. I dont care to ever go back. Still friends with my principal his daughters and speak to most of the people i ran with in a group text daily. There always trying to get a fishing trip together etc. The wife cant stand them bc one sends naked videos of his one night stands etc.and she thinks that all of them are like that one guy

went to my 10-year-high school reunion — it was... fine. One person who had recently come out seemed to take over the event, making it a bit of a "look at me" situation. It came across as more self-serving than celebratory, which took away from the experience for me. I ended up skipping the 20-year reunion. One night, a Facebook Messenger group thread exploded with hundreds of messages, mostly from our class president, who was expressing frustration that many Black classmates hadn’t attended the 10-year because they either weren’t invited or received their invitations late (he was black as well). I honestly couldn’t remember the details, but after reading through the thread, I left the group and decided not to go.
This is eerily what my 10 year was. What city?

I think that varies relative to each individual. I think you get out what you put in.
I love going to mine - always have a blast, but I have classmates who've never gone and never will. High school was not a good memory for some, I get it.
I have not experienced in my reunions much look at me.....maybe a couple. I think the rest who go are genuinely there to see their old friends and catch up with those they have not seen in a while. When we get one there that we haven't seen in decades it has been in my experience most of us really enjoy.

Went to my 50th in 2021. We had 168 in our class and 44 had died. That was an eyeopener.
