During a repeat of the previous strategy, the Sentinelese split into two groups and prevented recovery of the second body.[34][35] The mission was then abandoned and the second body was never retrieved.[36]

Definitely sounds like a creative, adventurous suicide. Probably wanted to give his family a better story than being found in a hotel room with a belt around his neck, where everyone would assume it was autoerotic asphyxiation.
