If you were ever married to a smoker who quit, the first 6-7 weeks makes you wish they still did. Mine was a pack+ a day smoker and when she did quit she was insufferable for the first month and a half . She wouldn't watch a movie, go out, drink a glass of wine or hang out with her sister who had continued to smoke or any friends . She was a bitchy hermit

If I’m drinking heavily I need a menthol smoke although haven’t had a drop of alcohol in over a month so no urges whatsoever.

sure you do/can, it's just about willpower. People don't want to hear that but it's true.

I dipped a can of grizzly wintergreen a day from the time I was 18 until post graduating, so roughly 5 years. Then I wnated to clean things up a bit so switched from dip to camel snus. From age roughly 24/25ish until age 35ish pretty much any waking moment, every single day, I had a snus pouch in. Unless I was eating or sleeping there was tobacco in my mouth. My top gums had a small bit of recession from a decade's worth of keeping and swallowing tobacco up there, and this was also about the time my first child was born. I quit then and haven't used tobacco or nicotine in almost 4 years.

Obviously it's hard. There are still times where a craving will hit me out of the blue. But just saying "oh tobacco is soOoOo addicting" is kind of a copout. A lot of shite is addicting but that doesn't mean it's impossible to stop if you actually put your mind to it.

I quit alcohol cold Turkey. First few months were awful, but I made it am living the good life. It’s harder to quit smoking IMO because smoking doesn’t have the outside effects that drinking can cause.
