Churches that discourage Halloween

Sort of spinoff from Trunk or Treat. But does anyone here actually belong to a church that actively discourages Halloween participation?
Seems like this was a fad about 10-15 years ago and all these churches were having "fall festivals" to give people an alternative to the evils of Halloween, but except for the aforementioned Trunk or Treat, that seems to have slipped by the wayside. Did the churches just chill out?

I'm sure a couple of those ATM churches in Baton Rouge discourage it.

Churches have been trying to
Get rid of Halloween since it’s inception. You’re just old enough now to realize it. When you were a kid, you didn’t care what was going on other than what was in your bag.

I'm not religious and I think halloween is stupid.

Most of the time churches (of all sizes) concentrate on two major events: Christmas and Easter (since attendance spikes on those days). Some churches will use those days to start new sermon series (hoping that people will come back for the whole series).
Trunk or Treat tends to be limited to churches which have large children's programs.

Local churches usually participate.

Yes and No
In my experience Baptists don't really think Halloween is evil anymore or curse you for dressing up like a witch. I'm sure South Louisiana still looks at southern baptists with horror, but they have chilled out a lot in in the last 10 years or so
But they still do the festival thing, which is mostly tailored to community outreach now.

Our church says that Halloween rewards kids that go looking for a handout and teaches them to become liberals

Yep, he is at my Episcopal church all the time. Sort of the guest of honor. Even makes it to the Halloween party.

I'm pretty sure the bible specifically forbids ATM. During biblical times there was no better way to spread infection. Even today it's not healthy.

I can't comprehend how these so called churches make Halloween a bad thing.
But so be it. Most are small made up churches with a cult following.

We had a Mormon family in the neighborhood growing up. They would get agitated when someone would mention Halloween around them. Don't know if it's a big deal in the Mormon faith, but it was a big issue for them. The Mormon kid was a hellian too. He's probably goth/satanic now.

I'm sorry kids dressing as Batman and going door to door to ask for candy is so horrible to your church. I hope you don't have Christmas trees or do Santa Claus either, as they're just as pagan.

Most churches I know embrace it as much as possible and do things like trunk or treat to try to put a positive spin on it.
