re: "Children Are A Blessing" -Yet Parents Have No Time, Money, and Stop Excercising

Taxpayers with kids get tons of tax breaks and people without kids end up paying for their kids
Thats BS by the way. We aren't rich by any means, but easily cleared the income level where you dont receive any money for the child tax credit. So it's not like everyone with children is running around with money. And as always, not paying taxes in the form of a credit is not the same as taking someone else's money. Don't get all liberal the same way they view any tax break for the "rich" as stealing from the poor.
As far as the OP, i can maybe understand not havimg kids, but not because they take up your money or time. Thats just selfish. I actually work out and excercise more now, because I want my son to see that as part of a daily routine. My wife went out with friends last night so I had my 10 month old to myself. I don't think I watched a second of TV or did much of anything except feed, bathe, and play with him. It was one of the more rewarding evenings in a long time. Yeah, you have to wake up in the middle of the night every once in a while, but who's so selfish that they cant do that for their own flesh and blood so much so that they never want them to exist!?
Parenting isnt for everyone, and I'm grateful to those that dont have kids if they dont want or are not ready. But to sit back and judge people as being miserable is crazy. Just like the guy whose going to compain about how difficult his workout is or how much torture it was to run that marathon. You dont hear me saying, "well then why the hell do you do it? Seems like its miserable for you." You know the joy they get from their hard work. Kids are infinitely more rewarding than anything you get out of that.

Don't bother trying to convince OP to have kids. He sounds like he'd be a deadbeat dad.

Same here. I had your daughter and it only seemed to mess up her body.

FIFY
Most families could exist on one. Take smaller vacations, drive late model used cars instead of new, skip dining out a few times a week. But lots of ppl think they'd be doing a disservice to their kids to deprive them off that

I have a kid and I do what I want and buy what I want. I also look thoroughly amazing.
Why? Because I realize that a happy me is a happy dad and a happy dad is a better dad. And I'm not lazy and let my kid rule me.

I guess that's what drives me to stay in shape. I may not be able to get laid from countless women, I may have less money, and I may not be able to take all the trips I want, ALL BECAUSE OF KIDS, but I'll be damn if I'm going to be ugly.
sig worthy

There is nothing more pathetic and selfish than married couples who decide to not have children.
Yes, married couples who recognize they don't have what it takes to raise kids so they don't have them are more selfish than the trash that shouldn't have kids but can't stop having them

My kids are my world and they know it. I spoil the shite out of them and I'm sure I let them get away with too much but they aren't scarce to tell me when they have a problem.
My kids take turns hugging me and talking to me one on one everyday .
Until you stop spoiling them and giving them what they want.

I don't like kids and neither does my wife, plain and simple. I think it's great that people have kids and feel fulfilled from that. I'm not missing out.
I don't think there's a woman in the world I wouldn't get sick of if it were just her and I for the rest of our lives. I love my wife and seeing how great a mom she's become to our 2 boys makes me love her more but I'd get bored as shite if it were just us 2.

I don't have kids, but I bet you could replace your time on the rant with working out and making money and still have a lot of time for your kids. Food for thought.

I think you guys are forgetting that they grow up...hell when mine were little it was tougher, but I have 2 boys and now that theyre getting bigger...guess what...they cut the grass and help me out around the house. Its great cause they realize theyre going to have to do these things around their house and for their family.
but I will say that with a topic like this the opinions are going to be all over the place...no one else can tell another whats best for them...its rediculous. Its good to know what you want wether its to have kids or not to have kids.

That sucks for you. It's been over 15 years, and I'm not even close to bored yet. Of course, doing whatever we want (no kids) probably helps.

I think for the most part, people are honest. To the average parent, all of the bad things really ARE worth it.
Plus.. You'll be really hard pressed to find someone who will outright admit they regret having children. Some who do won't even admit it to themselves. I've seen a few threads admitting it on Reddit and that's about it.

this
nothing brings me more joy than coming home from work and hearing my 2 year old come running to the door screaming "DADDY! DADDY HOME!" and give me a hug.
No vacation, no night out, no six pack abs, no...anything. Nothing has ever brought me more joy than that and I get to experience it every day.

Yeah no. I regret almost all of mine, and the one I don't is starting to catch some attitude. So it's not looking good.

I actually had a conversation with a friend about this but with her dogs. They take a lot of care and at times when she'd rather be doing something else, she is taking care of them, but at the same time, if she gets back home after a rough day of work, they are there to pick her up.
Almost every decision in your life you make has pro's and con's.
Getting married and having children are the two most polarizing decisions of your life. They have some of the biggest cons and hopefully the most significant pros of your life.
