Children and Santa Claus

Are there any parents out there that doesnt lie to there kids about Santa? Obviously my daughter is too young to worry about this currently, just this discussion about it with my wife.
We think that we will let her believe as long as she wants, but if she asks one day then we tell her the truth. Tell her the story of Saint Nicholas and how giving selflessly is what "Santa" is about.

ETA: in all seriousness, kids are little and innocent for such a short while, especially these days.
Why steal the Christmas magic? They’ll have a lifetime of disappointment. Do you watch movies or shows and enjoy and really get into them? Does it brighten your life?
Is someone coming in and telling you, in a condescending way, “you know it isn’t real!?” Gonna make your life any better?
To That person I say

My kids have never believed in it. Not because I told them not to. They just thought it was crazy to think some fat guy can make it around to every house in the world in one night and drop presents. They both have been realists their entire life. I made sure to tell them not to spoil it for the kids that did believe.

I recommend you tell her the story of the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ.

I think you are describing the way that most parents handle this. Basically, kids generally believe in Santa until they start school.

How old do you think kids are when they start school?

Accuse others of telling a lie while you pull coverup/perpetuate fraud by deceit from not telling the truth to make yourself feel good, huh, Doc?
Hypocrisy knows no bounds
If they don’t believe then that makes it much easier to pay for Christmas dinner or next year’s vacation.

Kids learn about Santa on their own. Every movie. Every ad. Etc.
But if they ask me I will tell them the truth after age 6. Mine all believe an elf comes to our house every night so I think they are still gullible enough to believe in anything. At age 6 they are introduced to the tooth fairy typically so most kids are at least 7-8 before they start having any doubts or hear kids at school with doubts. From there its a 5 year window of uncertainty. I won’t lie to them about it but if they are too little it’s not gonna do any good to just tell them what’s up.

I lie to my kid all the time. Why stop for Christmas?

Sounds farfetched.

You serious Clark?
I'd say 10 is the age where it's safe to come clean about the fat man. Until then, "You gotta believe to receive"

The idea is just to much fun to smash so early. We don't use Santa as a behavior monitor like some do, but going to see him, making reindeer food, and putting out cookies is way to much fun.
You also don't want to have the kid who ruins it in class for all the others.

Wrap some empty boxes and put them under the tree. Stuff them with paper and crap.
When the kids misbehave, throw one of the boxes in the fire

Christmas is for the children, let them believe in Santa.

I never believed in Santa. My parents didn't want me thinking that the meaning of Christmas was a fat man who gives gifts for good behavior.
I'm not having kids, but if I did they wouldn't believe in Santa.

I seriously doubt they "never" believed in Santa. The thought of a 4 year old not believing on their own because of their concept of world travel and such is laughable.
