I know you don't have children, seeing as you're a flaming homosexual, but this kid has been taught since he could speak to say yes sir/yes ma'am. You have any idea how hard it is to break a child of that habit, especially when it's for only one person?
Excuses excuses excuses. Law n gottdamned order.

What we know is that the child was instructed by the authority figure to not do something and he continued to do it. The authority figure than exercised her authority.

Do you have kids? I guarantee every other teacher he has ever had has wanted him to refer to them as ma'am. That kind of behavior is then reinforced at home.

Do you truly expect a child to be able to immediately go against that life long training because one silly teacher with obvious self esteem issue demands that he do so? The kid's ten years old.

Then this dumb women not only punishes the child, for doing something he has been taught to do since he could speak -something that most rational people would see as teaching your kids respect - but she also threatens to throw something at him.

I know you're a big lib, and so is TJ, but you assholes really don't have a leg to stand on when your kind gets called out in threads like this.

Look at this pussy was snowflake melting right here. Look you don't get to determine if someone likes to be called ma'am or sir. The teacher warned him and he didn't listen. End of story.

Sooner or later this will be a problem for you, I recently encountered a person in a business setting and could not figure out what gender they were supposed to be. Fortunately they gave their first name when introduced to me, but was of course gender neutral.

Yes, although they are grown now. I have school-aged grandkids at present.

Life is about adapting.

Maybe, maybe not. It's not like the punishment was severe. And it IS likely he will remember not to do it in the future.

I view a big part of school (and sports) as learning to submit to authority figures outside the home. Part of that lesson is that authority is not always exactly fair or exercised according to your own worldview. Yet, you do have to learn to submit to it. (Even Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates pay taxes - they submit to the US government.)

Most rational people think yes maam and no sir is antiquated BS. The problem you have is not one of principle but one of agreement.

Clearly joking.

I find it hilarious that all the usual "law n order" people all of a sudden believe in civil disobedience when they don't agree with the offense and/or punishment. Like I said - you don't actually have any principle you are standing on. Rather, you just like to see shite go your own way according your own beliefs, and when it doesn't, you start flinging poo and making excuses.

What's funnier is when you libs get all authoritarian when your hotbed of progressivism, mainly education, gets called put for their bullshite. But whatevs. The kid was moved put of this idiot teachr's class, so he doesn't have to worry about referring to her by the wrong gender anymore.

You don't consider respect a principle, which isn't really surprising.

Yes or no: the teach is the authority in the classroom?

I do. The child did not respect the teacher. Therefore, the child was punished. This is an age-old formula. I'm the conservative here. You're the hippie who wants anarchy - 10 year olds disobeying teachers whenever they want.

Stop being so dense. The kid did not disrespect the teacher; he was showing her respect in the way that he was taught.

You're working under the assumption that I'm a conservative. Not surprising, considering the black/white us vs them worldview you appear to have.

I taught them to respectfully question authority (although when they were 10, it was mostly "do what the teacher says".)

The 1st time. After he was asked to stop, he persisted. He got punished. I don't see what's so hard about this.

This is actually a good point. Did he persist? He likely said it put of habit, and this stupid lady took it too far. Neither of us really knows. But, on the surface, it's a bad look for her.

Took it too far? The kid wrote lines, for Jeebus' sake!

What was "taking it too far" was it making the news. I am still agape that we know about this.

Certainly on some things. And certainly not on others. You are the one that accused me of a black/white us/them mentality. That's what makes this so ironic. My world doesn't divide neatly by that.

She did say that she would have thrown something at him if she had something in her hand.

Seems a little over the top for something so insignificant.

Agreed. Same with that stupidity about weaves at some school in LA.

Im 34 years old and still say "sir" and "mam". Its the way kids are supposed to be raised. Of course, the resident race baiting progessive figs on the board have a problem with it

I would imagine that your condescending nature only amplifies the disdain that most rational people have towards your posts. Honestly, to me at least, it totally justifies the stream of down votes that follow your "opinions".

My child would finish the lines, have me sign it and be told to promptly refer to his teacher as bitch in lieu of mam.

Out of respect.

And if she threatened to throw something at my kid she would deal directly with me. And being called bitch would be the least of her worries.
