Drop the word “liberal”.

They are progressives.

They are as far from liberals as humanly possible.

Yep. And they're just as terrible as modern republicans. There isn't much difference between the two.

I know you don't have children, seeing as you're a flaming homosexual, but this kid has been taught since he could speak to say yes sir/yes ma'am. You have any idea how hard it is to break a child of that habit, especially when it's for only one person?

You're an idiot. Just because something is a "habit" is no excuse. Go somewhere else. Just because you think it's "respectful" doesn't mean other people do.

Get the child’s gmaw to give the teacher the beating the kid would’ve received if he didn’t say ma’am

you obviously don't understand how this type of thing works

based on what we know, the kid did nothing wrong and the teacher needs to be fired

Tjgator has no children and no spouse. Or am I completely wrong here and he is a Male helmut?

And you are reaching. Where is "ma'am" disrespectful? Go ahead. Tell me.

Why would they have his write the word "ma'am" as punishment for saying the word "ma'am". I would think that he would have to write something like "I will address my teacher as "hey bitch" (or whatever he is suppose to say) from now on". That would actually teach him what he is supposed to do.. If he isn't supposed to say "ma'am" and he then has to write "ma'am" a bunch of times, the word would be in his head and that would increase the chances of him saying it again.

If the story is exactly as reported, then that is just some crazy bullshite.

When I was ten years old, I'd be in a world of hurt if I didn't say "ma'am."

If addressing someone as ma’am makes me a racist in someone’s eyes then their opinion makes no difference to me anyway.

Went to the school website and found the teacher. Her name is Margie Williams and if anyone wants to email her, here's her email.

There are few words that trigger such a vehement reaction among midlifers than “ma’am.” We’re not sure why, except that it makes us feel old — or, at the very least, older than the person calling us “ma’am.” Much has been written about the use of “ma’am” — kids in the south are raised using the word as a term of respect — but still the word sometimes makes us wince. Why? Huff/Post 50 asked Facebook fans their thoughts on being called “Ma’am” and here’s what they had to say:

Barbara Hoppenfeld said, it makes her feel “ancient.” She added, “I don’t like to be called Ma’am at all. ... There’s gotta be a more respectful way of addressing a more mature female. I even prefer to be called Madam. Ma’am also seems frump-ish!”

Connie Small likens it to another distasteful moment backed by good intentions. “How about when they ask if you get the senior citizen’s discount. DAMN!,” she said.

Look at this pussy was snowflake melting right here. Look you don't get to determine if someone likes to be called ma'am or sir. The teacher warned him and he didn't listen. End of story.

LOL. This is your evidence that the phrase “ma’am” is disrepsectful? A straw poll done by Huff Po.

If we invented a new “more respectful” way of addressing a mature female, whatever word/phrase that is would just become the new “ma’am” and some lady will be complaining about it in a few years.

“Ma’am” is a widely-recognized term of respect. It’s why it’s used in the armed forces. You can’t just unilaterally decide that certain words offend you and insist that others not use them in your presence or how you would prefer they use them.

What if the teacher thought that saying “please” was offensive because it assumes compliance?

Sounds like this teacher is not being very understanding or inclusive of the child’s culture. It’s common in the Southern U.S. for children to be taught to say the words “sir” and “ma’am.”

This is cultural oppression and it’s absolutely ridiculous that a teacher would force a child to hide their culture or make them feel ashamed of it.

You teach your kids to recognize authority and to be respectful, not to blindly follow authority. One day, when you grow up, and your gay fad days are over, you may decide to have a kid of your own. Then maybe you'll understand.

A few thoughts:

How could this have possibly made the news?

Private school - so seriously, how could this have possibly made the news?

The teacher asked him not to do something and then he did it again, so he got lightly punished. Who cares?

quote:

When I was a child and I did not say this, like all of you, there would be a lil hell to pay.

That was at least as stupid as getting a light punishment for saying it after being told not to. When you were a child, what was the punishment for not listening to a teacher?
