BRPD will announce the purchase of 1000 new basketballs and a task force to commission a study on how much it would cost to construct 35 new basketball courts and where they should be located to get a city-wide midnight basketball super league started.

anyway, hillar is saying that violent crime can be curtailed by better technology...

Well BRAVE was paired with LSU to use GIS programs to target specific areas that were likely to have violent crime and everyone said it was racist despite the fact that it saved black lives.

here's the article

Among some of the specific technology-related costs the district attorney’s office is eyeing: $675,000 for 45 license plate readers; $525,000 for 75 crime cameras; $3.5 million for 700 portable radios; a $50,000 shared video server; and $250,000 to double the current 6-square-mile coverage of ShotSpotters, which locate where gunshots are being fired in real time.

“We want to have a real-time crime unit, where local, state and federal law enforcement officers are able to immediately get into their databases and figure out how to move most efficiently,” Moore says.

Until then, in order to more effectively utilize its resources, analysts from the office’s Crime Strategies Unit are analyzing trends to determine when and where crimes in Baton Rouge are most likely to take place, as well as how authorities can best respond to each situation.

I don’t think there’s much we can do to “deter” a lot of the people committing the crime.

Raise kids thinking that Thug Life is keeping it real and that book learning and school is for whites and you end up with a generation of unemployable future inmates.

what a shitty comment. Most people riding the busses are people going to work. Say what you want about CATS, but the people riding them are not the problem.

sad truth. but correct.

and getting on local tv or social media pleading for said animals to be peaceful, loving, and a positive force in their communities isn't going to do shite either.

What's going on with the Police Union contract? Maybe the Chief needs to throw more cops under the bus.

First read the subject as "Chef Paul having a televised meeting...." and thought I remembered him being dead.

Rather listen to Chef Paul anyway.

i really really wish, WAFB or WBRZ, would find a local pastor in NBR and ask them if they are truly and honestly comfortable going into the streets of their communities.

Louisiana has the highest incarceration rate. We must find a way to stop violence, not lock these men away /s
