Got in a line on Verot School in Lafayette yesterday at about 11:20. I’d say there were at least 12 cars in front of me. Got my sandwich at about 11:28. It was hot.....and very good. No complaints.

chaos at ours. Lady starts bitching about having to pay .25 for extra sauces and midbitch says to the apologizing cashier 'it's not your fault' and then proceeds to bitch at her more.

judging by the lines, it's going great.

I imagine RBI corporate is downright giddy. While they would never say it in public they are high fiving over people going "World Star" over a $4 chicken sandwich. I can't think of any food item that has ever caused this level of viral sensation. The cronut was big but initially just at Dominique Ansel Bakery.

The sandwich is the Tickle Me Elmo of food, I almost expected it to come in red and white Supreme bags when it was released this time.

closest thing in recent memory would be the McDonalds rerelease of the Szechuan sauce for Rick and Morty

I’ve got a Kiwi friend (female 40-ish, nice lady) who said that in her community the word “Elmo” was slang for dick.

So “Tickle Me Elmo” means something different there than on Sesame Street.

OP: frick all this hype to have almost unemployable people frick up & with my food.

No, it didn't sell out in two weeks. The Food Board started a thread on it in June.

Agreed. It's good, but not worthy of the hype. I prefer Popeye's spicy chicken strips with Cajun Sparkle and BBQ sauce.

Louisiana and some other limited areas were test markets. The nationwide rollout did indeed sell out in just a few days.

When would you ever eat a Popeye's sandwich? Between your 3 pm tea and crumpets and your Oysters Bienville with Paul Allen?

Walked in Popeyes on Hwy 22 at 10:55 and was served my sandwich at 10:58! Thanks Popeyes!

I thought those would be good so I ordered them a few years ago. They came out a little sickly. It looked like they had sliced a chicken strip, longways, into 4 strips, then battered and fried it. They were absolutely tiny.

I took it as Popeyes way of letting me know they did not want me to order these ever again.

Popeyes' service? What do you expect?

I see your Tickle Me Elmo, but to me the Popeye’s chicken sandwich is reminiscent of the Cabbage Patch Kid frenzy.

I finally had one today after scouring the state back in September and not getting one.

They wouldn’t let me get one in drive through so I went in. It was a 10 minute wait to get to the counter and probably a 5 minute wait for the sandwich.

It was good, but definitely cold bun and a NOT freshly fried breast. Mass production at this point.

I liked it but I’d like to try again when they’re not in this rush. As of now it’s not better than a spicy CFA sandwich, but I like it more than Zaxby’s and Canes.

ETA: a family in front of me ordered 4 sandwich meals and 4 entree sandwiches for 3 people.

This.

I ain’t waiting in a fast food line longer than 5 minutes if i can help it, much less 20 cars deep or whatever these fools are doing.

I tried a couple of the chicken sandwiches from Popeye’s right when they came out last summer; not even sure where i heard about it or if i just saw it advertised o the side of the restaurant.. anyway, it was good, but only because i got it without mayo (i hate mayo on anything) but i got some of their ranch dipping sauce , put it on there an itt tasted just right.. haven’t had one since because, while it was good, it wasnt good enough to compete with other people for.. let em have it, when the hype dies down maybe i’ll Have another.
