I've never heard anyone suggest that, but I guess you couldn't use your clever punch line without it.

The biggest winners will be the people running this. Bout to be a bunch of administrators making 6 figures in charge of this.

Past harms? You mean like rioting, burning, looting, rampant shoplifting, and the fact there is a good chance you’ll get robbed and/or shot in the parking lot?

That’s a really long passage filled with woke gobbledygook just to say they want to be communists.

A municipality owned store? It will fail in the most miserable manner ever seen, and they won't be able to understand how or why. They will end up sinking 10x the money intended into it and at the end of the day, it would've been cheaper to pay a private company to deliver fresh produce to everyone in the area.

I don't think government run food stores is a novel concept.

I want this to happen so bad just to see how it goes. I can't think of a scenario where this isn't a huge disaster.

It's just a fancy food pantry, a place to pick up the government cheese and some fresh veggies.

They are going to lose a TON of money. Those private groceries left for a reason, and these knuckleheads are about to find out why.

I assume the price will be $0 for everything within a day or two and the shelves will be impossible to keep stocked.

Or will the gov defend it's inventory with the force of the government?

I’m sure this has nothing to do with the purposeful disinvestment of say…police, law enforcement, or crime prevention

And she will be selling meat out of the trunk of her suv on Sundays in the church parking lot.

And yes, government benefits should only buy you the staples. Not soda, candy, and other BS. Also, stores that accept Lonestar(etc.) should have to meet certain size and product requirements. In Houston, you can find hole-in-the-wall stores that have no business accepting Lonestar. Too much fraud.

THAT is some scary words coming from our government. The PEOPLE should decide what role the government plays in our lives. That is why there are limits written into the Constitution. It doesn't work the other way around.

They wouldn’t even need this if they would just enforce the law and stop the shoplifting so normal stores don’t shut down.
