I believe you are taking things literally that aren't meant to be. I saw your post on the first page. "The city is burning" or "the city is on fire" are commonly used expressions signifying that there is some type of situation that is out of control. The OP was not trying to be hyperbolic, in my opinion. I had already heard about something going on in Chicago before I read this thread and in no way did the thread title make me think Chicago was literally on fire.
The people saying "let it burn" mean so in a way that this is apparently what it will take for change to be made. They want the same America you want. But all this defund the police, and letting rioters riot without penalty WILL NOT work. So yes, unfortunately this is what has to happen for these leftists to wise up and do what needs to be done.

My son got a call at 0700 and was told to WFH today since his office is downtown. Poor kid, has been WFH since graduating and they were just now getting into the office a few days a week.
