I got issued one by my company. Honestly, it drives pretty well. It whines like a dog on the porch but if you turn on the radio you won’t hear it. I don’t know much about torque because I haven’t pulled anything but if you need a truck for going to Home Depot or moving your girlfriend out then it will serve you well

I'd spring for the 3L diesel.

For some reason, a 1500 with that motor cost the same as the 2500 and 3500 with the 6.6 duramax. All three are in that $55-62k range.

My nephew has one and he has been satisfied with it, it actually has more pep than I would have expected. He gets over 19 mpg. He has over 40,000 miles and so far no mechanical problems, it’s a 2020 and I think that was the first year for the engine in the Silverado.
Unfortunately GM quality has declined on most of their vehicles over the last 20 years and recalls are common, he’s never had mechanical issues but the truck has been recalled 5 times in just a little over 2 years.

It’s not bad with 450 lbs of torque

Maybe I am old school but that poor little 2.7 has got to be working hard.

Company I work for got me one back in June of 22. Have put 28,700 miles on it and it averages 20.7 MPG. I was leery at first, but like it a lot. fricker gets up and goes. Pulled a trailer loaded with a Miller 500, 600 foot of welding lead, with a 6 bottle rack with no problem. Maintained interstate speed and had around 13.5 MPG. The oil pan is nylon reinforced plastic so I had concerns. So far so good.

I was given one last year for a loaner while my wife had a recall worked. Nice truck if you’re not towing anything

If my Carolina squat, dragged truck nuts, while rolling coal doesn't tell you how big my penis is, I don't know what else to say .

I’ve got one in a company truck I drive. It has plenty of get up. I never tow with it. At about 25,000 miles I thought the engine started to sound different. I brought to the dealership they found nothing, didn’t really trust them so I brought it to my mechanic who I do trust. Both said sometimes the turbo will make them sound funny. 30,000 miles now and good as far as I know. I wouldn’t want one for a personal vehicle but for running around with parts in the back it’s fine. I think my mpg is mid to upper 20’s mostly in town.

Used car lots were stocked up with the 2.7 turbo models around Dec 2021. Apparently baws thought they were getting a good deal, then turned them in after one tow.

I don’t expect it to get a lot of love here, but I drove one and it wasn’t that bad power wise. I have a buddy with one that drives from Houma to Fourchon every day and it’s done him well and he enjoys the mileage.

Full disclosure though, I drove the 4 cylinder and then bought the V8 one parked next to it.

My 2022 Silverado work truck is a v4 turbo. Believe it or not it’s a z71 white truck with black middle strip on hood and black rims with off-road tires. I didn’t even know what engine was in it when took it to peps boys and used company fleet card they told me. I hired a worker and company was trying to give that to him and I said new guy gets single cab 2 wheel drive clown truck and gave my 2019 v8 Silverado to a good employee.

I haven’t had any issues with it; 100 mi round trip commute to work each day; has lots of speed and acceleration. Four wheel drive on a major highway project just fine. Only 10k miles on it as of today.

So...same as my Hemi.

And mine certainly sounds like a real truck.

The vehicle you describe with that engine is a twuck ,not to be confused with a real truck with a v8.

6.2 or bust. I don't know why the rest of the lineup is so lifeless.

Unless you burn super unleaded you aren’t getting the full output. The 6.2 has higher compression and 93 octane is recommended.

Waiting for a turbo to spool up a 4 cylinder on a full size truck makes the vehicle not worth considering. Most people don't wait for cool down idle and keep the oil clean to preserve the bearings, which will add to maintenance costs.
