Happened a few years ago to someone i used to work with. So it does in fact happen and I really could care less if you believe me or not

Then don't do it if you're in Louisiana.
It’s also illegal in Texas. The lack of a statute that calls out specific rules for motorcycles doesn’t mean motorcycles get to do whatever they want - it means they have to follow the traffic laws that apply to everyone else.

Knowing traffic laws in the state you're in is a fairly simple and expected concept.
Ironic.

I wasn't arguing specifically for the OP in Texas. Congrats on your "gotcha" attempt though. I also don't live in Texas. I live in Virginia....where this law is awaiting approval by the transportation dept. So...once again....congrats on your "gotcha" attempt
There's a pretty solid reason why I kept referring to where it's legal.

You may want to check texas law. It is illegal here.
Actually, it is not illegal by statute. It is actually possible to lane split legally and some of the driver's passes meet the letter of TX law. Some did not but just barely. It is a technical argument and not sure how a trial judge would handle it even with video proving no law was breached. Here the video shows he likely broke the law by a couple of inches several times.

In Louisiana it’s explicitly illegal for motorcycles to lane split
But what if we were only filtering ?

I mean, I asked and you said this:

Take which laws off the books, exactly?
the incredibly obvious one that's the primary focus of this exact thread.
You’ve been chastising drivers for not knowing the law when it’s illegal both in Texas, the subject of the OP, and in Louisiana, where most of the posters on the OT live.

Idiot in the red F150 is a pathetic loser.
He probably also drives 70 in the left lane.

Lane splitting is stupid and dangerous even if it is legal.

once again....congrats I guess?
In your head, you narrowed it down to specifically Texas and Louisiana while I was referring to the law in general. Solid hill to die on.

There is no such thing as a motorcycle lane. With that guy would sit in traffic just like everybody else

It's legal in a number of states. Given that fact, why?

Should be illegal for the biker to come up between lanes like that.
Why? Just to add more traffic?

I’m just pointing out that your whole “cry a little harder and they might take they laws off the books” retort is a little silly when almost everyone in this thread lives somewhere that it’s not legal anyway.
In fact it’s not even legal in your state as (as far as I can tell) there’s no law on the books yet.
It’s a little disingenuous to accuse people of not knowing traffic laws when in the vast majority of states it is, at best, a grey area.

Just because the crotch rocket guy may not be the brightest bulb on the tree... Still doesn't give Red truck guy the right to think that he is King of the Highway and all traffic rules and enforcement is his reason to be put on earth.

I don't think my question was answered.
Do you cut back in front of someone when traffic gets moving?

typo - he meant "wish" - the only problem with that is it gets hot as frick if you're on a bike in full gear and you're not moving. If there is space to go forward and you can do it safely, go for it.

I quite literally already addressed this. But I do realize asking you to thoroughly read what people are posting is a little more than I should be expecting.
