It's not the governments job to make sure inmates have money when they get out
That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying what if we pay them $100 a week and because of this reincarnation rate drops by 5%. It cost more than $100 a week to house a prisoner so we end up saving money. Trust me, I don't give a shite about what they perceive as fair or unfair. You lose that when you go to prison, but it could be a way to decrease total costs by increasing spending in one area. Again, I don't know if it is or not just an idea and every repudiation I've gotten so far really has nothing to do with what I originally said.

i thought they also got time added to their "good behavior" for working?
I am sure it comes with benefits...have to be a trustee to do it i think.

The majority of these inmates in these programs are drug offenders so giving them more money when they get out well you can do the math here. I think it's more beneficial to make them find work when they get out then to allow them to walk out with thousands of dollars. In the prison system the more money you have leads to more violence as well

I thought she looked like she was trying to hold back a sketchy fart/shart.
But we can compromise - she looks like a catfish trying not to shart on itself.
I enjoy hearing other's description of this creature as well.

I bet a lot of the inmates actually enjoy the chance to get out and work somewhere else for a day.

How do you feel about paying inmates pennies to make the expensive house furnishings like dressers, end tables and such? That's what we as a nation are doing. Most furniture is made by prison labor. How about clothing/textiles?
Prison Economy from Prison Policy .org
Yet WE in the USA bitch and moan about being competitive with China and their use of prison labor. Minimum wage in Haiti: $0.63/hour.
Prison is for punishment (reform was long ago abandoned), not for enrichment of others off the work mandated by law.
frick it. I'm convinced.
Let them rot away in their cell then. No jobs AT ALL. Do your time (100% of it) and get released with nothing but the rags you walked in with. If that's what they want, I say give it to them.
Something tells me that the inmates won't agree.

Fck it, let's just pay them $15 an hour so no one will be labeled a racist.
People are so fricking stupid

They’re prisoners, the fact that they get paid at all is pretty generous. This is valuable work experience that can help get them a job when they are released back to the world. Ted and Barbara just see a payday for themselves when they tell everyone they’re offended

The prisoners would be the first ones to lose their shite if this program got cancelled.

They are also getting free room and board, health care, and food clothing ext....

I’m also reminded to put the toilet seat down. Don’t mean I do it all the time.

you got that right but these SJW idiots are going to be calling it modern day slavery and demanding they get $15 an hour pay so the program will shut down.
why risk having the possible liability that they could turn dangerous or possibly violent? why have a convicted felon work for you, if there is no cost savings to do it?

I’d do anything I could to get one of these jobs if I was an inmate.
Let’s see:
-I get outside the prison wall
-Something to occupy my mind and take up time
-I get to interact with normal people at least somewhat
-I likely won’t get shanked or raped while I’m out
-I earn a little money to buy food with
-This will hopefully help get gainfully employed when I get out by showing that I can handle job like responsibility
Everything about this is a positive

I have zero problem with inmates working. Just got a problem with inmates making bank for the corporations hiring them and encouraging more criminalization so the corporations can maintain that cheap labor force. Furniture companies selling "premium" goods while paying prison workers pennies a day is criminal in itself. Same thing for the major credit companies when they used prisoners for their customer service. banks were making bank using cheap prison labor and charging their customers for that privilege.
Send the prisoners out to farm the prison grounds for their own food, send them out to pound rocks for roads. Work them for the public good, not for private corporations!
ETA: Also make the private corporations provide the benefits like insurances on the prison workforce to level the playing field even more. Why should We Taxpayers pay for the health care of Big Business Prison Laborer? If they are corporate employees then the corporation should follow it's own general policy and laws governing employee insurance requirements too.

And this is why this whole argument by these idiots should be ignored. It is completely invalid. They will be catered to, however.
