Penske’s saying Chase hasn’t been in LA for 40 years, meaning they got here in early 2000s.
They merged with Bank One (which earlier bought several banks in Louisiana). Current Chase CEO was CEO of Bank One at the time of merge.
Branch, its employees, and customer’s banking accounts & history probably just carried over. It is possible he was using same branch for 40 years and has that much history with what is today Chase.

I am just SO happy that the conservatives in America insisted taking McCain Feingold to court so now woke corporations like Chase are considered "people" and can essentially buy elections! Great job guys! I warned you this would be the result but you refused to listen!
One of the dumbest things done in America is to allow corporations and unions to donate to campaigns. Thanks Supreme Court!

What a tired, lazy insult. Got anything better in your arsenal? So easy to spot posters who are employees vs employers

That bank may have been around since 1954 and it may be that Chase acquired it through acquisition, so its predecessor ( probably Bank One and Premier) may have been there in 1954. But, in 1954 Chase was called Chase National bank and that entity was never registered to do business in the state.
Chase Manhattan registered to do business in LA in 1980. So, no way that branch was branded as a Chase in 1954.
Even in 1980’s as one poster noted it was to write mortgages in the state.

He confirms the payment and apologizes for the people in Asia not having handled it properly. I asked for my account to be flagged that I only be contacted by English speaking Chase employees.
I have a feeling that you’re excluding some of what you said, how you said it, and perhaps telling half-truths.
I’m guessing you went full-nuclear Karen. Not only did you speak to the manager you spoke to the manager of the manager.

Bank One didn’t come to LA until 1996 through Premier Bank of BTR acquisition. At some point it’s disingenuous to say you’ve been banking with them for 40 years. No one has been banking with them for 40 years unless you are aNew Yorker.

Next day I get a dunning phone card from Chase, obviously from the Phillippines, I recognized the accent and I could not easily understand him, asking for payment. I logged on while he was on the phone, did not see the payment, and made it again while on the phone with him. My account reflected the payment.
The guy from the PI proceeds to tell me that I did not make the payment and he threatens account cancellation. I told him I can see the payment on my screen. He repeats his threat. I said I want to talk to someone who speaks English as a native language. I had to get through two more people before finally a supervisor in Florida who speaks English.
This sounds like a scam call

Also, F Chase and Cap One but not because of outsourcing customer service phone lines.

UPDATE to my original post:
Just to be clear, nobody from Chase told me the action was taken because I asked that my account be flagged for English speakers. The only thing I was told is discrimination and they refused to elaborate. If it is not that I have no idea.
Branch manager, who knew me and some of my siblings, denied they had anything to do with this and offered to take it up the chain for reinstatement. Obviously I thanked her and declined.
Her district(?) manager got my checking open for two weeks so I can transfer monies, deposits, auto payments, etc.
Opened new account with local bank. When told the story I was told I was not the first Chase customer they had inherited for no definitive reason. They did ask me if I had made a firearm purchase through Chase. Late last year I charged two handguns and a decent amount of ammo through Chase. No idea if connected.
For those who doubt these events I hope it never happens to you. Remember, don't rock the boat and put your trust in multi national corporations. I'm sure they will always treat you fairly.
Brave New World

have received no notice on my checking account. While trying to find out why my credit cards were cancelled I asked about my checking account. Told it was closed. Asked about my funds and told that they would either mail a check or I could speak with branch manager. I called branch and have an appt. at 9. They said a letter had been sent on the 13th. I have received nothing. If Amazon had not declined a purchase of coffee we would have not known.
Pop in the app and show us a screenshot with anything confidential blacked out.
Will be the legit way to put any debate to bed on whether it’s real, with you saying you never received anything but verbal notice

They may have been waiting for a reason to stop doing business with you.

Just google "history of chase bank in louisiana"
one of top hits is "JPMorgan Chase has been in New Orleans for 180 Years"
