Yeah the poor white and Asian kids really get shafted here. Not only held to a higher standard, but many come from not the best backgrounds. A lot of them have little to no guidance on how or what to do when applying for med school. There’s an increasing number of things students have to do. Poorer students are also not going to have as much time beefing up their extracurriculars when they have to work and go to school full time.
What’s sad is that even among the Hispanic and black students that get in, a significant number of them come from well off families just like the other groups. So it’s not even helping poorer Hispanic and blacks as much as they act like.

Black Medical students drop out at higher rates, and invariably end up in less competitive fields.

this 1000% needs to the the follow-up article to the OP/charts.
Because we all know what's coming next: the courses are too hard for minorities & need to be laxed in order for said minorities to complete them.
