Basically shows that the lower the academic scores go, the higher the rate of minority acceptance. If you're white you have to be either a legacy or the absolute best of the best. Data excludes athletes and legacies.

Also the majority of white students are legacies and the admissions has to discriminate against merit whites for.the rest of the spots.

End result is going to be more discrimination from patients towards black doctors.

Saw the matriculation stats for all US med schools when my wife was applying.

It was infuriating.

Also known as bigotry of lowered expectations towards blacks.

I will never understand this.

What is the benefit? Who, other than those underqualified minorities benefit? It doesn’t make the institution better, it doesn’t better the reputation, it doesn’t increase quality research, it doesn’t increase endowment or the perpetuity of endowment...

Liberalism is a disease.

That's not my point.

My point is this is only going to make people question/distrust the skill/decisions of all black doctors.

that Hahhh-vud is letting anyone with an MCAT between 24-26 even sniff admissions is pretty embarrassing, black or white. I think I would've been at the bottom of the stack for LSU with that....

This is the absolute definition of racism. I’d also like to see gender factored in as well.

Bingo. This should be infuriating to every stakeholder at Harvard and the minority groups they’re attempting to be the white savior of.

It is.

I've mentioned this before in other threads - When I went to medical school we started with 162 students of which 10 were AA. The background of those 10 was much different than the other 152 white/asian/hispanic students who were your typical high achiever undergrads/top mcat scores. The AA students were mainly from HBU's. From the beginning it was obvious their backgrounds made them incapable of finishing medical school. Out of the 152 non-AA student, 150 finished in 4 years and 151 in 5 years (one single mom took a little longer). Out of the 10 AA students, 0/zip/nada lasted past the first year.

In a side note I have one current AA physician colleague who absolutely abhors affirmative action - he believes (rightly) that he may be viewed as not as capable or smart compared to others and that he may have got into med school due to his race (he did not by the way).

Yep. You aint getting into LSU med school with a 25 MCAT unless you are black or hispanic

I bet they do away with mcat requirement soon because “equity”

If more of them are getting in with substandard grades than ones with good grades, it won't be undeserved.

The only thing more outrageous than this is are the people on Twitter (right leaning) feigning shock and outrage like they didn't know about it

They knew, they were just too scared to put it out there. This allows them to express their disbelief because it's the findings of someone else.

(2) It's worth noting - as an academic who has oft been a boss - that the old saw that white women benefit most from AA is just a numbers game. 38%>13%, so you see more WW than Blacks admitted under a "hard goals" program. But, the real question is the size of the ADVANTAGE.

White women benefit from AA which is incredible given women attend college more often than men.

Affirmative action in the end hurts those that would be elite at a state school, but instead bottom in the ivy’s at the end of it. So really who really loses at the end
