So ritualistic human sacrifice is ok? Can an organization that deems themself a religion sacrifice children?

I am just checking in here. Anyone figure out the legalities of this?

I haven’t read the thread either. I assume it’s full of retards screaming about the strict language of the first amendment.

The charges are constitutional and the pastor is a greedy, ignorant dumbass

Do buttfricking kids next. If my god demands that I lay pipe into little Tommy’s a-hole then Congress can make no law prohibiting my free exercise thereof, right?

crazy, yet you can't slander or defame someone, or organize a mass gathering in the middle of a city street without a permit, or marry a 12 year old because your religion permits it. If i didn't know better i'd think we had 300 years of case law and judicial authority stating quite the opposite of what you're saying.

Ok? Why is that relevant?

Nothing in the Constitution is absolute, there are limits to every right, and it’s been that way for 200 years.

Every single right in the Constitution can and is limited. Every. Single. One.

How so? We can either interpret the words or we can’t. Which is it?

Can’t. I’m also a young earth Christian and believe the earth is 6,000 years old because that’s what the words say

You know, on some level, I feel a perverse joy in some other professions (doctors, scientists, etc) finally joining the legal profession in the lay population believing that they know far more than us, education and experience be damned

It's a basic framework of how our government should be organized and how it should operate, plus a bill of rights which limits its power(s). Quite literally nothing in the constitution is intended to be absolute. Even your right to life, the most important right of all, is not absolute. Further, it is not intended to be the ONLY governing law in the nation. It provides a blueprint and parameters/limitations for how federal and state government operates to itself and with respect to the people.

Take for example the 4th amendment which starts with "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated...". Are you satisfied with this? The government can search you or your property so long as its "reasonable". Let's just leave it at that? No need for further interpretation or further explanation as to what constitutes a "reasonable" search?

I know y’all think I’m an idiot, but as a financial advisor I had to legit tell a seasoned attorney that he couldn’t complete a succession in the way he was trying to do it according to LA law, and that even if he could, he would cost the estate a shite ton of taxes.

Just like every other profession, just cuz you got the piece of paper doesn’t mean you know what you’re doing

The whole problem was we started letting people who told us they were smarter that us, tell us what it meant to them.

So what you are saying is that the people who are making decisions in this current situation isn't as smart as you? Those people who are making these decisions do so after they get their information from people who likely no better than most people.

If I had to make a decision based on what you told me and what a doctor who is an infectious disease specialist told me, I sure as hell will not listen to you and yes, I would consider that person to be more educated in the field they are in than me.

Or is it that you are one of those people who, when they don't like to hear reality, they think the people telling them what is going on doesn't know anything?

No argument there. I'm more referring to the "I can read the law books just like you!" crowd.

So its Constitutional for a pastor to be arrested for having church but plenty of non essential businesses are allowed to continue to operate?

Seems discriminatory.

So you are okay with interpretations of the constitution, not just this one?
