Then the Legislature should convene and rescind the law by which he’s declared the emergency.

Better yet, they should have declarations of emergency automatically expire after 30 days without reauthorization.

Imagine if the next Gov declares a state of emergency due to gun violence or abortions. And applies these same principles. I think everyone should heed the warnings but idiots have the right to be idiots. No?

People would melt.

Again, there are substantial checks against Emergency declarations of power. They aren't being used in this situation because this a serious situation where emergency declarations are warranted.

False. Plenty of people have a problem with it. But it’s unavoidable whenever the store itself must stay open. You have to take the bad with the good in that regard when all of the nonessential goods are under the same roof as the essential goods

My rule is to stick to the CDC as the main source for any coronavirus related information.

The CDC was specifically telling people to not wear masks a few weeks ago.

Now its done a 180 degree turn.

They could rope those areas off such as many dining areas have been.

So you think the State should take the time away from dealing with Pandemic to outline exactly what essential businesses can sell?

I don’t really care, but I find it funny that liquor stores and tobacco outlets that don’t provide fuel are allowed to be open during this time

I mean they're having no problem deciding where people can gather

Because Walmart selling video games is a very minor transmission risk.

500 people crammed into one building breathing on each other and shaking hands is a tremendous transmission risk.

You really don’t understand why those places stay open?

Nope, not when those things can be purchased at convenience stores (at least in LA)

Are you familiar with the phrase “that’s as pointless as a peeing section in the swimming pool” ?

Gotcha I was confused how it could be in the Bill of Rights. But that’s just the first 10.

That’s not my point I, think he can do what’s he’s done except for shutting down a church. That’s my only issue here.

Apparently you lack common sense. It provides continuity of employment, for starters. It also is not an industry collecting large amounts of people in small spaces. There is no reason to specifically mandate that these places be closed.

It also allows people to purchase alcohol, the total prohibition of which would cause major problems.
Just like, you know, that time time when we enacted Prohibition and had to take it back a decade later because it caused 10000000x the problems than it solved.

There are practical, occasionally cynical decisions that have to be made in big boy world. Allowing people to go home and have some beers or a couple whiskeys when times are tough far outweighs the downside of riots.

Then why did all the governors who deemed gun shops non essential and shut down their background check systems decide to deem them essential after the lawsuits were filed?

I asked boosie because he’s a lawyer and wanted his opinion.

But he CAN shut down the church if it is based on the exact same concerns and parameters that are shutting down other businesses and gatherings.

What have you ever read or heard that would lead you to believe otherwise?

So why cant people go to church if it makes them happy and they stay 6 feet apart?

Can you give one example of this happening as you describe it?
