CNN immediately finds an expert that says this is way too low based on NYC data. Maybe the NYC data, which is an outlier from everywhere else in the world, is inflated. Only 60% of the Deaths in NYC actually tested positive.

I clarified in a later post that I didn't have a big issue with the 15 days to figure out what we were dealing with. It's just been a moving target ever since.

I think you’re right, and I would agree it was smart to use caution. I personally think all these people in government that prop themselves up as society’s intellectual superiors should perhaps focus their attentions on formulating plans for the future in how best to deal with pandemics that does not include shutting down the planet in the process, perhaps in coming up with steps to quarantine the at risk people to keep them safe, and still maintain social distancing in public while working and keeping the economic machine rolling. Maybe we can actually keep public parks open for instance to help people get their dose of vitamin D to fight off viruses, and still practice social distancing at the same time.

MANY of the rules and closures during all of this made NO good sense whatsoever.

Hey, George W Bush and Barack Obama did just that!

Trump and his cabinet either stopped those programs, or re-assigned the people assigned to them.

Had this administration taken it seriously in January

Not one country in the developed world was taking it seriously in January. There was absolutely no reason to. China and the World Health Organization were telling us until the latter half of January that this virus didn't even spread via human-to-human contact. Unless Donald Trump is secretly Dr. Strange there is absolutely no way he could have taken it seriously at that particular time without being omnipotent.

I recall near the beginning of this that some Texas town closed their boat launch at the local lake. Why can't people go fishing? Things like that pissed me off because it made absolutely no sense.

Meh, Our economy has definitely taken a huge hit. Don't get me wrong. But this thing has still killed 100k people here and counting. I don't know how you can look at that # and brush it aside as no big deal

Read a couple of history books about plagues. If there was no internet or mass communication, no one would have even known about this.

Or taking PPP loans to use the funds for other purposes because it only had a 1% interest rate.
Not a bad idea. If you can beat the 1% roi, which isn't very hard, you can leverage that arbitrage to make some serious money.

Yep. Think we have finally crossed the threshold where people put far greater value on ensured comfort than individual liberty.

America is only as good as Americans, and this shutdown showed me that Americans are pretty much shitheads for the most part.

It's 2020. I dare anyone to name one thing that's not been made political.

It's the result of having a government so massive and invasive it touches every aspect of everyone's lives at all times.

Especially when that government now decides to pick winners and losers by using the term "essential"

A lot of you guys have already posted the same thing but I agree. This garbage will go down as the biggest and most expensive overreaction in this planet's history. I'm so embarrassed with how badly this overreaction has become.
