Friend,
I also use e.g., sic., cf., and i.e., but really, the shorthand was because I could not remember if it was nauseum or nausum.

Good lord. Again, coding someone’s death to both COVID and respiratory arrest does not mean they didn’t die of COVID.
Yes, there are probably people dying of non-COVID conditions who are being reported as COVID deaths because they tested positive. No, it’s nowhere near 94%.
And before somebody starts talking about how flu deaths get coded, here are recent CDC estimates for flu deaths:
2014-2015: 44,000 to 64,000 (estimate 51,000)
2015-2016: 17,000 to 35,000 (estimate 23,000)
2016-2017: 29,000 to 61,000 (estimate 38,000)
2017-2018: 46,000 to 95,000 (estimate 61,000)
2018-2019: 26,339 to 52,664 (estimate 34,157)
2019-2020: 24,000 to 62,000 (no estimate available yet from what I can tell)
CDC estimates flu deaths by extrapolating from a flu surveillance network that covers ~8.5% of the population and then applying fudge factors to account for variables like testing frequency. Meaning the number of lab-confirmed influenza deaths reported to CDC in a given year is at most about 8.5% of their estimates.
That means that for the 2017-2018 season, when CDC estimated 61,000 flu deaths, they likely used 5,000 or less actual lab-confirmed deaths (which, by the way, would have included the same comorbidities you see in the COVID data) to develop this estimate. If they reported COVID deaths the same way, people would lose their shite.

What’s the take away? 90% of 70yo have underlying conditions. 80% of 60 year olds.

Every single major country in the world is going through this at some level.
200,000 MORE people have died already in the US than the last 3 years. Facts.
Of course people that are elderly, have heart conditions, lung issues, blood issues, obese, have cancer, etc are more likely to die if they get a bonus virus the body has never seen on top.
It means exactly what the reports show..they died of multiple reasons with Covid being among them.
Entirely too many educated, grown arse people buying into conspiracy crap.

Whether it’s right or wrong, I think the mentality is that those who are obese and die of covid “had it coming.”

Mother says that God put us in the garden of Eden with plenty of fruits and veggies and tasty animals to eat and none of the chips and oreos you fat bastards eat

Are we talking globally or in Louisiana? Because the answer changes with that specification

This was a good post. Yes, these numbers have been out a while and are pretty consistent. Yes, many people with other conditions would not have died with out covid.
This post, without saying it, does show how the media can easily hype the issue into something bad, both in covid and riots. This is where the distrust comes from. Several times Fauci, WHO, CDC, etc. would say one thing only to change or recant later. Examples - masks, asymptomatic spread, virus on surfaces, bad tests, false positives, dying with vs from, on and on.
To add some tin foil. I believe covid would not have been as bad under Hillary, Obama, or Biden. Why? Because the media would have ignored it for the most part. Half the deaths would have been recorded as something else. The testing would not have been as wide. Virus would have been the same, media would have handled it very different.
Just comparing to response during H1N1.

Let me tell you frickwards in your 20s and 30s something. Those of you that live long enough to make the 50s may as well learn this now.
Life is hard, shite happens, car wrecks, bad genes, doctors frick up, etc . Every time you party all night, get wasted, etc eventually catches up to you. There is no ducking thing as a free lunch.
Almost everyone that makes it to high 50s or so, has some type of preexisting or underlying condition. Even the ones the don’t often drop dead of massive heart attacks, like my buddy that ran 5 ‘miles a day and still benched 350 3 weeks after scoring perfect on a physical.
This is what happens as you age.

Got a cut from shaving.... I got the COVID
I called CDC and reported

Yes it is.
There have been 200,000 more deaths through 31 weeks on 2020 than the average for the 3 years prior at the same point.

The conspiracy “stuff” generally ignores that this virus is killing the same percentages of people in countries across the world. It has not one frick to do with who is President or what plans happened before.
The virus also gives a frick about the media. Trump’s relationship with them didn’t help public perception but in the end, I don’t think it would have changed anything.
How the deaths are coded is the same way they code all diseases. Just look through the 60,000 ICD -10 codes.
Spain, Sweden and the US all handled things very differently and all nearing the same number of deaths per million.
