that’s over $7000 for one nights work. I’d take that. I agree with the premise of the article but I don’t necessarily feel bad for the band like this is trying to make me feel.
Without the band, there’s $0 for anyone.
The venue made $100k for hosting. The band makes $7k. Everyone who showed up, showed up to see the band.
You don’t see an issue there?

Venue also made a little more in concessions too depending on the venue. Some may just serve alcohol, but others more like regular food. Now some of that profit is also tied up in the concession vendor who will take a big cut. It is the reason why some places charge 20 dollars for nachos and 10 dollars for a beer.

Ticket prices in general aren't super expensive. I'd pay $150 to go see someone I really liked. For instance, Luke Bryan is coming to Lafayette. Presale (Citibank) tickets for the floor was $132 a piece. I'm not mad at that. The fees and taxes involved brought the total to $423....for $264 tickets. However, this was the Wednesday prior to public sale and there were resale seats already for sale. Same section.
Thing is, the final price is the actual price. They can play their cute little shell game with imaginary fees and crap but at the end of the day, you see a total price for the tickets and you as the consumer get to choose to pay it or not. People see the BS fees but still pay them rather than not go.

How many people did the venue hire to work the event on top of all the bills associated with hosting the event? It’s not like that $100k went into dale dimmadome’s (owner of the dimmsdale dimmadome) pocket and didn’t get divided lord knows how many ways. I get what you’re saying but the band didn’t have to accept the terms of the deal either.

Highly likely that the venue was TM/LN affiliated. A huge part of their monopoly is the fact that the vast majority of venues with over 500 capacity are TM/LN affiliated.

Yeah the fees are a red herring. The price is the price you pay.
You can visually graph the astronomical rise in fees with the rise of FOMO. With these types of events still selling out, prices ain't coming down soon.

I do have empathy for someone having to pay 60 bucks to see Something Corporate
Why? If it isn't worth it to the person they won't pay it.

That's about $130 too much

Ablut a year ago, there was a concert nearby, KC and the Sunshine Band. (Yeah, I know)
I really hadn't planned on going.
Then I saw prices were listed at $11 for the cheap seats.
I said, what the heck , I'll go for $11, knowing there were gonna be some additional fees, taxes.
That $11 ticket ballooned to nearly $40 after the fees were added.
.
So,no Boogie shoes for me that night.

I’ve listed several of my LSU baseball tickets this year on StubHub for $1. Out of curiosity, I went to see how much it would cost a buyer…$11.

They are a complete monopoly of evil no Christian mfers. They work with the ticket scalpers etc.

This shite stops tomorrow if people stop paying these asinine prices.

It’s economics. Supply and demand.

In addition to that, I just looked and they played 15 shows last year...not exactly making a killing from ticket sales at that rate

Ticket prices, and then the fricking fees. Gotta love buying two $50 tickets and when you check out the total is like $185.
Didn’t they sign some legislation to prevent that recently?
Well, Trump is proposing it, so Progressives and the Media are going to fight to make double damn sure it doesn't happen, no matter how much it may help the common man.
Just like they were for no taxes on tips and OT during the campaign. They go to pass it, and every leftist voted against it.

Ticketmaster and the like are just corporate scalpers. 25% Convenience Fee and the “convenience” is getting fricked in the arse
