They are actually bound to reveal what is told to them in the vonfessional if it is going to lead to future harm. I.e. you could confess a murder and not get told on but confessing plans to murder is allowable to admit to authorities.

Not in the church, it isn’t.

Bad morning for the "Catholics don't read their bibles" crew, huh?

I posted that quote from Timothy and happen to be very Catholic.

As a Protestant...I still agree with the Catholic Church here to a degree. I need to know what "child abuse" is happening. Is it that someone was a little harsh yelling at their kid after a hard day of work....or is the kid being subjected to drugs, sexual abuse and physical danger? One is definitely not like the other even though some would both call it "child abuse"

Im even ok with the priest not reporting the bad crimes personally...but instead demanding that they bring the child to the church immediately and turn themselves into the police(depending on the severity of the crime)

I see my buddies have already corrected your blasphemy by referencing John 14:6 (implicit reference) and 1 Timothy 2:5 (explicit reference).

Here’s Hebrews 8:6:
“But Jesus has now obtained a more excellent ministry,
and to that degree he is the mediator of a better covenant,
which has been enacted through better promises.”

And Hebrews 9:15
"For this reason he is the mediator of a new covenant,
so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance,
because a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions under the first covenant."

And Hebrews 12:24
"and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant,
and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel."

quote:

He is God in human form.

To be honest bro that might even be blasphemous. Don’t you know Jesus is both 100% AND 100% human? (See council of Chalcedon 451AD)

This is a ridiculous question but since I know the full answer will rub you the wrong way, the first amendment should work for you.

Doctrine derived from scripture that describes God as one being existing in three co-equal and co-eternal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is also Biblical.

So do you “take back” your previous statement that Jesus is not a mediator?

So when you said Jesus is not a mediator, and when you were shown 4 places in scripture where Jesus is called a mediator, you will not admit you were wrong, and that Jesus is in fact a mediator?

Yeah, I know..

It's just a shame that religion gets in the way of capturing child rapists.

What about lawyers? Should lawyers report child abuse from their clients to the law?

What about other laws broken reported to priest? If you rape a 18 yr old female, it’s fine to keep it quiet. But if you rape a 17 year old female, you have to report it? What a difference a day makes.

Stop interrupting the daily "Tigerdroppings Hates Catholics" thread with talk about lawyers. We are attacking and condemning Catholics and Catholicism in this thread. Not lawyers.

Psychologists are exempt from mandatory reporting in the WA law unless there’s imminent danger.

Priests would also report imminent danger actions (e.g. future crimes/abuse) from a confession because that is not a valid confession.

I admit that Jesus is a form of God. People pray to Jesus Christ as well as God.

So it doesn't matter if you confess to diddling 100 kids as long as you don't say you are going to do it again?

I agree, when you put the confidence of a pedo ahead of the safety of children something is wrong with the religion you follow.

We all know pedophiles are one and done.
