Cathedral-Carmel: $7605 St. Pius: $7305 St. Cecilia: $6655 (they do offer a multi-family discount..sending 3 would cost us $19266...our oldest is going to 9th grade and is staying at JPG) Fatima: $7790 St. Thomas Moore: $9355

The Private schools in Baton Rouge are all around $17,000.

Can’t go wrong with Catherdral, Fatima, or Pius

May have trouble getting 4 kids in at the same time though

Depends on space in each class

For Catholic K-8 this is very far off

ETA - I see this was probably in reference to high school - I am idiot. Carry on.

Cathedral is a solid school with a good principal and faculty. 8th grade academics weren’t great but my kids did fine in high school

Wife and I are alumni and have one who just started and one who will be starting soon.

Religion is not important to us (it may be to you considering JPG), but we’ve been happy with the education thus far.

ETA: I think we pay $840 a month for one. Ancillary fees outside that are probably an extra $500 per academic year.

Went there for 5th grade in the 70’s. In P.E. We were square dancing “dive for the oyster dive. Dive for the clam dive”. Some kid was goofing off and the coach paddled his butt.

I probably spent 400k putting my kids through Catholic school. I am 50/50 in whether or not I made a mistake. I’d love to have the money, because that plus college and cars, weddings, etc.. has left me broke. But I can’t complain about the way my kids turned out. I will, however, be delivering pizzas or greeting you at Wal Mart when I’m 75 because of it.

Holy shite…I had no idea that private schools cost that much! You are bumping on $150,000 to get each kid through the 12th grade.

That is worth moving somewhere that has better public schools IMO.

My kids go to catholic school but I’d never put myself in that position for it. As mentioned, there are good public options in Lafayette parish.

Apply early is my only advice.

Or prepare for a big donation to the church.

Or both.

Part of this is having them get a Catholic education. It’s expensive yes but my kids received a great education and was immersed in the faith. Those reasons made it more than worth it. But I’m practicing saying “would you like fries with that” once I retire.

Our daughter is in pre-k at Cathedral and it’s been a great experience for us. It’s very family oriented. We applied and got into both Cathedral and Pius, Cathedral just felt like the better fit for us.

Just an anecdote, but it seems like the vast majority of people who send their kids to Fatima, went to Fatima.

How early did you apply, etc.? We literally just had our son, but were thinking of doing tours already just to be prepared early.

Seems like lots of us are in this boat.

Periodically I contemplate how much money we have paid and will pay for Catholic school and it seems insane. But then it still seems right.

God provides.

this was not the case for a while, but I believe at the moment you are correct.

the interim principal at OLF is great. I hope they make him permanent.
