Get two. They will keep each other company. Plenty of entertainment.

get one of the males instead of the females. female cats are usually really weird or overly friendly. males are usually much better as pets.
I've had a number of cats, all female but one. The one male harassed the other two older females. When one female passed away, I got another female kitten. The male took her over which was fine. All my females have been very loving. He was too, but feisty.
I'm on my 3rd calico. All of them have been very sweet. Calicos are a special kind of sweet and loyal.

Take them both...the Orange was is 90% male.

I'm thinking of just trying to snatch one with welding gloves and get it in a cage.
This will work. Get it home, have a letterbox set up, take kitten out, place in litter box, let it run off and hide, put some kibble near hiding place, have food and water set up. Job done. Cat will come around.
Most orange cats are boys, cheaper to fix than female cats.
Keep it inside exclusively for 6 months or so if you want to let it outside.

Cats are creatures of the night and roam the planet when dark. Just put cat food out every night for a week and they will start showing up. I have four right now that eat on my patio every day. One of them is tame enough to pet. The best thing about this method is that you’re effectively “sharing” a pet with your neighbors, so you don’t have to feel guilty if you are away from home for a day or two.

Those orange cats are nuts.

Have no suggestions other than good luck.
Grandma's wild outdoor cat had kittens every 6 months growing up. The mother would have them in the back of the garage that was filled with my grandpa's junk.
Would get torn up every time we caught one to bring home

The clock is ticking. My friend said the cat started hanging out under his shed a couple of months ago. He just saw the kittens last week and their eyes are open, but the mom is still carrying them around with her mouth.

My family is a bunch of backwoods dirt farmers from way back in the day. When my great Aunt whose husband passed away, they had barn cats on a big farm in Pittsfield, Illinois. When there was a new litter of kittens, she'd call my grandpa and we'd go over there with a boot and a Buck knife.
He'd snatch then up one at a time and check for male/f3male. If they were male, he'd shove their front half down the boot, gran their hind legs and cut their balls off with the Buck knife. Every once ina while, we'd snag one for one of my cousins and turn it into a pet. No issues.
But my grandpa was a serious redass. Would climb trees to snag baby crows for pets, you name it. A different generation of harassed that got by with an 8th grade education.

Most are tabby's like the mom, but 2 are beautiful calicos (which we know are female) and one is a bright orange (no idea about the sex but a good looking cat nonetheless).
"Most are tabbies" and then you call out 3 specifically - how many did she have?
I have 2 for the first time ever, since about 2 months ago, one boy, one girl.
The boy is my big ol' goofy buddy, the girl is beautiful and she knows it.
When he wants something he meows very loudly and I just meow back. When she wants something, she jumps up beside me and lets out a tiny "mew" and leap to get her what she wants. I swear I have seen her smirk at him when I do that. She has pretty girl privilege, just the way the world works. She looks like a Blue Russian, but she has yellow eyes and those cats have green eyes.

Get on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. Somebody is probably giving away free kittens. Much easier than catching or trapping feral kittens...

Like 8 or so. I'm waiting for my friend to send me the pics they showed me this weekend.

Welding gloves? They're kittens, dude, they couldn't break your skin if they tried.

Is the momma cat friendly?
I’ve caught wild kittens at my camp by simply putting a can of soft cat food out near where they are and I kinda hid within arms reach of the can. When kitten comes out grab it. With gloves of course cause their teeth and claws are sharp!
If momma cat is friendly the kittens sometimes let their guard down when momma comes out and you petting her. Same thing, just grab the kitten.
