Cat Owners Question
Posted on 3/1/22 at 9:36 am

My daughter wants a cat. I've never had one. Can they be trained to deficate outdoors?
The thought of keeping a shitebox in the home is repulsive.
1) Cat shits in box, covers the shites with paws, then resumes strolling throughout the home with shite-laden paws.
2) the fricking smell
How do you do it?

If you keep the cat outside, it won't have much of an option.

My dog likes to eat cats. When my wife and I got married she had to leave her cat at her mom's.

bruh, you ain't lying. It was disgusting when I'd wake up to the cat pawing it's shitbox then feel it jump up on the bed.

Get her a dog.
AA has a cat, it only comes inside when it wants to get rubbed. We have a doggy door in the wall between our garage and laundry room. All the food and shtt box stays in the garage.

If your cat is indoors at any time, it will need a litter box. If your cat is an outdoor cat, get ready to explain to your daughter the facts of life when it doesn't make it past 4 years.
As far as your shits on paws theory, cats clean a lot, and yes the box can smell but if you scoop it every day it should be fine. Dogs don't wear shoes and walk around everywhere, so goodness knows what's on their feet too.

Perfect time to teach her she can't always get what she wants.
Cats live a long time. You could end up saddled with the damn thing.

We only have 1 cat and change the box every other day. Absolutely zero smell in the house. If you get multiple cats, I’d imagine there would be a smell.
As for the paws thing, it is what it is. Dogs lick their a-hole and then lick you, but people don’t think of that too much.
All in all, get a kitten, train it to be affectionate, and they are great pets.
Email me @ gmail and I can give you pretty detailed instructions on training

Keep the cat outside and it will naturally go outdoors. Super easy low maintenance pet baw. Cats get a bad rep in here but it’s from insecure dog owners who think you have to choose. My dog is much more high maintenance than my cat. Love them both. The cat is chill and likes human interaction.

Clean the litter box frequently, like once a day. Cats will clean themselves. It's not that big of a deal.

I bought a litter robot for my guys. No smell and we just have to change out the liner drawer once a week.

Cats obsessively clean themselves. Ours will spend hours a day doing it, even the paws and between the toes. They don't like the shite smelling paws any more than you do. And as another poster said, scoop the box once a day and you should be good.

Outdoor cats are trashy. They belong inside.

I was in your shoes just over three years ago. I gave in. Save yourself from the unrelenting hell I’ve put myself in. Don’t do it.

My cat comes in at night and is outside all day. No litter box and no bathroom issues although she will occasionally pee on something of my wife's, but that's because she hates her.

Our car just goes to the door when it needs to go out and pee/poop and comes to the door when it wants to come in. It just does that. All my other cats did also.

We have two kittens. I clean the box in trash day and sprinkle the litter deodorizer throughout the week.
Its not hard.

Deodorizer
This.
I use Arm & Hammer carpet deodorizer powder. Super cheap and I just sprinkle a little in there and zero odor.
