This late in the year? It is summer time.

Also they are not going to have your license revoked for taking another job. That looks bad on them.

apparently there's a cutoff date of June 1st in our district to where they can petition your license if you leave due to the amount of time to replace you or something like that. I've only been here a year so retirement isn't really an issue. I would be teaching high school in Carolina still. No interest in teaching college level. I am very happy here though. I honestly love Wichita and have just started building some good relationships. It's not like I was unhappy here and was looking to leave which is what's making this kind of tough for me.
I understand the liking Wichita having done some work in that area myself...one thing to look at with the $10k bump is if Cost of Living is comparable. Check housing costs/prices apples to apples, check into the grocery ads online for comparisons there, utilities, insurances, etc.. Most of that you can Google Fu. It can be surprising the differences geography make in some of these. That $10k pay raise could evaporate or escalate.

Let me ask you this. Which job lines up more with the future goals you have set for yourself.

Also more money doesnt necessarily equal more happiness. I've watched many coaches move on to a new program and be completely miserable, only to end up leaving soon after anyway.

Thats really what im trying to weigh in my mind right now.

I already have a job with a college team here (granted for way less money and way less responsibility) which I was planning on using to get my feet wet and see if I wanted to go the college route or not. SO it's not like I don't already have an opportunity there.

I think the other thing thats making this hard is the fact that it's a pretty good friend giving me the offer in NC so it'd be nice to go help him out and everything. Just a lot of variables at play.

Every teaching contract says they can somehow punish you for taking another job on short notice. However, seldom does that ever happen because they should want you to be as happy as you can be. Also, would you really want to work for somebody who would punish you for taking a better opportunity?

This decision is easy. Go to NC, fast.

If your friend gets the HC job, I'd go to NC. As you said, you're building relationships, but they aren't that strong yet. You've only been is KS for a year, so now is the time to uproot.

I vote for Raleigh, Pedro.

It appears that you are young and single, so this is the easiest time in your life to make a move like this. Also, the longer you teach in one place, the more difficult it will become to leave there. Finally, I’m not turning down the opportunity to live close to Andy Griffith.

Pretty easily choose Raleigh over Wichita.

I feel like I'm going crazy, I thought you were in healthcare? (probably mistaking you for someone else)

Put the $10k in a tax calculator set to NC and see how much it really is over your current situation.

yea definitely are. thats teh one field I would never go into. just not a biology guy. My degree is in meteorology though so may you were thinking of that.

I like the prospect of living in raleigh as it seems like a cool area too but I like wichita alot as well. Im not the kind of person that has to live in this massively nice area.
