I went thru 5 and in 2 years that’s pretty bad but there were some extenuating circumstances… 87 Subaru, 87 5.0 5spd notchback mustang, 65 mustang auto 289, 89 ford escort, 88 Pontiac 6000 , obviously loved both mustangs as I currently have a 88 5.0, but the 6000 and escort were great cars, I eventually traded the 6000 that I paid $100 for to get a 87 Buick t-type and that little escort lasted along time even drove it a year without power steering.

1988 Chevy Spectrum
Got it brand new for $7000. I got what I paid for.

1992 Toyota T100. Was gray just like this one, had 4wd too. I had put some buckshot mud tires on the back and had ATs on the front. Motor lost compression but still had over 150k miles on it.

78 Mercury Zephyr Z-7.
Looked identical to a Ford Fairmont, I got a choice, the Fairmont was white and it didn’t like white. One of my friends got the Fairmont.
He complained it had no power, mine would run like a scalded cat. He popped the hood and I said “where’s the rest of the engine?”
His had a 4 cylinder, mine a V-8. Awful glad I hated white that day.

Had an ‘81 GMC stepside pickup with gold rims and a chrome roll bar for sophomore year, then an ‘82 280ZX Turbo Junior year, then an ‘84 300 ZX Turbo my Senior year.

1989 Silverado. 5.0 V8 that was never in a hurry but at least sounded great after I put flomaster exhaust pipes.

Funny how time alters our perceptions. 5.0l from the era had about 140hp so in a ~3100 pound car with drivetrains of the late 70s it probably took 11 seconds to go 0-60 and might break 18s in the 1/4 and trap 75-80 mph.
Brutally slow in today's terms but would gap the 4cylinder version with ease.

High school - 69 Pontiac Firebird - 8 yr old vehicle - paid sticker price - I was stupid.
1st work travel vehicle - 1978 AMC Pacer - I was poor.
Later, I matured and got smarter as I aged.

69 Camaro. Worn out 327, Powerglide and 10 bolt rearend. Rusted out rear wheel wells and rear window. Kept that car 20 years. Lasted longer than my dad and marriage. Final iteration was a 383 stroker, Turbo 400 with stall converter, 4:10 Positraction rear and a Pro Shot Fogger 220hp nitrous. Had a lot of fun with that car.

1984 Nissan Stanza. It was a total POS, too. The sunroof was nice, though.

Junior and Senior year it was a 6 cylinder F-100. Old and Well used at that point. No AC. AM/FM radio that worked 50% of the time. It was quite the machine.
